    Hi,

Your CPU is actually a quad core, not a Core 2 Duo. You mention the most important question towards the end:
Q: "Is it even worth it to oc my cpu?"

    The answer is: no.

The longer answer is: Not from what you've told us.

What are you using your computer for? What graphics card do you have?

Hi Komoka, and welcome to HEXUS. Just to let you know, Steam accounts technically can't be given away, as it is against their Terms of Service: http://store.steampowered.com/subscriber_agreement/

Our hardware gurus are frequently offering help to a huge number of people for no reward, so please don't think you need to offer gifts to get any useful advice

The most important question, as always, is "why do you want to overclock your CPU"? What Kalniel said is correct.

ops.. I dont know why i wrote duo

I'm using my computer mainly for gaming. My graphics card is kind of bad.My original one stopped working one week after the waranty expired
I wasn't actually planing on ocing my cpu,but recently i had problems with it.
I cleaned out my computer and then checked if everything is working fine, and i realized 2 thing

1.My cpu temperatures were higher than they supposed to be while im using it
2.My cpu is actually underclocked by 666mhz (if i remember well my computer was costum build, but the workers in the ship assembled it,i don't know if it was them or what)

So i knew that i would change my cpu cooler atleast,so i thought i could even by a good one and do a mild overclock, since there are still some games that manage to put more stress on my cpu than my gpu (planetside 2 mainly )
but my actually main goal is to get a decent cpu cooler so i can get it working on 2.83Ghz instead of 2.17 Ghz ( I cant belive i havent noticed this for years..)

    my graphics card asus.com/Graphics_Cards/EAH57702DI512MD5/#specifications

well I can understand why,but i don't think they would mind in this case.I guess same thing goes for origin cd-keys.
So if anyone happens to khm.. e-mail me to get to know eachother..
I don't really like to get help without providing anything in return, and I don't think i can contribute much to this forum, that's why i decided to give away something.

I don't want your steam profile, and your refusal to follow Hexus admin requests makes it less likely that people will help you. But don't worry about giving anything back - the nice thing about forums is that when someone is helped, more people may be helped in the future who have the same problem.

As you mention, your graphics card is terrible, so there's no point overclocking the CPU as the GPU is holding you back anyway. The OEM cooler should be fine for default clocks so make sure it is clear of dust and hair that might cause it not to work so well. If you do want to replace it, then something simple like an artic cooling freezer 7 pro would be fine even for some overclocking. It comes with paste built in.
