hi all
As a retired old fart and a bit late in life to be playing with overclocking computers, but i am willing to give it a try. I would like to try and o/c a i7950 3.06 CPU running on a P6X58D-e motherboard

How is the sunshine state ?
You need this guide. It's written for the 920, but there's no real difference.

What cooling do you have on the chip ? The harder you drive it, the more heat it will produce. Too much heat will result in instability and a thermal shutdown. Probably more important in Mt Isa !
Society's to blame,
Or possibly Atari.
hi
it,s been very hot and very dry all through we are starting to get some useful rain now.
I have a theratake water 2 on the chip
I heard about the rain. Family said they got 25mil yesterday.
Googled the cooler looks good. I,d keep an eye on the temps though given where you live. Go through the guide I linked to above and see how you get on.

Temps do increase a little with increased frequency, but it's quite mild if you don't overvolt. The 950 is a nice chip for OCing without the need for overvolting - mine gets to around 3.8ghz with an undervolt.
hi
thanks i will give it a go
