No-one is suggesting
sacrificing one part of the system - they are suggesting ensuring that the system is in balance. A GT630 isn't going to play modern games at 1080p with all the pretties turned up, regardless of which CPU you have. A 295X2 is going to churn out > 60fps @ 1080p regardless of what CPU you have. An R9 270X + an FX63[5|0]0 is going to be a well balanced system. Without knowledge of the other components the OP intends to use, it's hard to recommend a CPU as they may end up with a system that simply doesn't meet their requirements.
Although if the OP is limiting themselves to a £165 CPU, I doubt they've managed to fit a 295X2 into the budget
But the bottom line is that discussion of the CPU in isolation is pretty pointless - a PC is more than the sum of its parts...
