Thanks for your reply, I shall look into this further.
Yeah its a great bang for your buck cpu and will easily last you 3-4 years. maybe 5.
It's a great CPU for gaming, should last you a while too but you may struggle when it comes to multitasking due to the i5's lack of hyperthreading.
It'll serve you well on a budget. I bought my i5 2400 (also a more budget option of the Sandybridge chip) in May 2011 and it's still serving me just fine for all games. (haven't encountered any bottlenecking or stuttering).
The more one seeks, the more one finds and so you realise there is a lot more to be found.
Also consider Ivybridge i5 3000-Sandybrige 2000 series. On any of the P/Z6 *or Z7* chipset based motherboard the non k CPU's have a partially unlocked multiplier.
Something like a Z75 motherboard and i5-3470 will allow for an overclock of 4Ghz+
Anything from 2500k onwards is good enough for any high-end gaming. After that you won't see any noticeable improvement in games, since none will even come close to maxing it.
Plus you can easily get a 2500/2600k up to 4.6ghz+ with good cooling. I've been running my 2600k at 4.6ghz since they were released.
Dx12 should see them get new life as well, so even less need to upgrade

I have the i5-4460 @ 3.2GHz and I've played everything from games like FTL and COD4 to GTA V, DayZ ,Arma etc and it hasn't let me down once, my GPU on the other hand that's a different story.
I've been running an i5 2500k for 3 years and no problems whatsoever. It clocks up to 4.5 when OC'd and performance is great. No doubt yours will run great too, I don't see any problems.
solid house of a processor if u plan to game or whatever on it for a while atleast.
Can u overclock that model ?
yes it is a good gaming chip i know someone who has that and a GTX 970 and he gets really good performance in all games
it is none overclock able the only unlocked haswell I5 CPUs are the 4670k and the 4690K
