Odd, especially as they aren't pin-compatible and the last time I remember this it was AMD also, the old XP 3200+

Would have thought the counterfeiters would get more return from doing it to Intel CPUs....

Such an obvious and broken fake, I wonder why they bother putting something in the box.

If they re-printed lower end parts and hoped no-one noticed then I would understand, but this is just odd.

Perhaps the cpus are reclaimed from scrapped machines or something?

Even so, you've got to wonder why they'd then go to the bother of swapping out the heat-spreaders for genuine ones (and even where they'd get the heatspreaders in the first place). With AM2 CPUs it'd make more sense to reprint as AM3+ parts if you're going to try to play that game. Very odd indeed....

I'm guessing the packaging, chips and heat spreaders were intercepted on their way to disposal on separate occasions, glued together neatly when the crims had enough to work with and sold to unsuspecting distributors.

Or possibly someone substituted junk for the CPUs in genuine packages leaving themselves with a tray of nice new 7600 chips.

Wouldn't surprise me if there are people out there who bought delid'ed stuff. Can see it now even on ebay
