Hi All
Going to apologise now as I have been out of the PC upgrade business for some time.Been looking to upgrade my PC seeing as I'm still running QX6700 but finding its finally not really able to pull its weight with newer games.
Had been holding out for several months as herd that Skylake was worth the wait, but after reading some of the reviews now that it is out, sounds to be only a minor gradual improvement compared to past gen CPU’s. (Obviously not comparing to my QX6700)
Apart from the fact skylake supports DDR4 and better chipset is it worth the cost? £200 for the i5 and £275 for i7.
I know everyone raves about Intel CPU’s over AMD but have always been told its worth saving your money on the CPU so buying AMD and putting that saving towards a better graphics card? Also with windows 10 having direct x12 and future games being able take advantage of more cores wouldn’t I be better off with an 8 Core AMD CPU rather than just an Intel quad core? I know Intel has stronger single core performance which is great for older games but will I really benefit when you compare bang for buck?
After reading the above you can probably tell I'm not a hardcore gamer anymore as can’t seem to find the time or money, But would like a system that can run newer games smooth without spending the earth. Probably about £450 MAX on CPU, Mobo and RAM
Please help me see the light.
