High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
Hello. I have 4790K with stock cooler. During Black Ops 3 my cpu temps are 90-100c. I think i mounted good cooler.
Is this normal for stock cooler or not? Black Ops 3 only giving that high temps.
Cpu is on turbo clock 4 ghz - 4,2 ghz. And on 4,2 ghz i have 90c+ sometimes it will spike to 100c during each places in game.
I dont know to play with that temps or not? And it is normal or not for stock cooling?
Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
Yes, a quick google shows it's normal for the stock cooler. I would upgrade the HSF and/or disable the overclocking type things that motherboards do like multi-core turbo etc. See your motherboard manual or contact their support for more info.
Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
Because on other games i have temps 80C+. Weird because only Black Ops 3 giving me 90C+ ( sometimes 100C ,depending on load cpu ).And i dont know why. Black Ops 3 only. :(

Yes, you said in your first post already.
What temp does it get to if you run Prime 95 stress test?
http://www.mersenne.org/download/#download
That will show if it's just Black Ops or if other things can also heat up the CPU. But each game/application will have it's own performance profile.

In Prime 95 my temps are 95-100C. On other games temps are 80-90C.
Black Ops 3 giving me from 85-100C ( depending on load ). Is this normal for stock cooler temps?

Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
You don't say what your ambient temperature or case is, but it's certainly possible that it's operating as designed at those temperatures.
If it's running on turbo I wouldn't worry about it, the chip will first disable turbo and then start going slower than stock speed if it gets too hot.
Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
Yes cpu clocked on turbo is 4,2ghz. On 4,2ghz when playing Crysis 3 or Black Ops 3 temps are 95C-100C with stock cooling. Is this normal or something wrong?
My case is old: Cooler Master Centurion 590.
Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
I think this question has been thoroughly answered. If you don't like the answer, repeating the question isn't going to change things.
You have started other threads where you keep asking the same question. It's frustrating for those users who give their time to answer if you don't read and take heed of what they say!
Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
Playing Crysis 3 and Black Ops 3 giving me 90c-100C. But playing Dying Light temps are 77-81C max. < weird >
Anyway, last question.
Is this safe to play with 90-100C?
Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
The temperature will depend on the load the CPU is under. Black ops is clearly loading up the CPU more than other games.
Most CPUs have self protection built in which will either throttle the speed, or in exceptional conditions, shut down. The spec sheet of your CPU usually available on the manufacturers web site will tell you what the maximum temperature a CPU is, and what it will do if those temperatures are reached.
Running a CPU at high temperatures may shorten its service life, so, as has been suggested earlier, changing the stock cooler for one that is more efficient, or improving the case ventilation may reduce the temperatures.
One way to check case ventilation is to play the games with the side of the case removed as that will improve the case ventilation.
The CPU fan exhausts into the case, it is just as important to then remove the hot air from the case. Cooling components do not operate in isolation, but act together to create a cooling system. Therefore you need to look at ALL the cooling components and how they work together.

Somebody said to me:" Heatsink not properly mounted" or your heatsink is not properly secured.
I dont know what to think now.

Perfectly normal. CPUs are complicated things and some parts put out more heat than others. The first two games have more calculations that use the hotter parts than the last game.

If the CPU was reaching that temperature at minimum clock speed it would be concerning, but with it running at not only nominal clock speed but turbo as well it's perfectly happy and working as designed.
Re: High cpu temp on stock cooling 4790k
Last question dear friends.
I am getting 100C on Black Ops 3 in few places in 1 mission. Overall is 80C-90C.
In Crysis 3 in Welcome to the jungle is 90-100C. Other games are 70-80C.
Is this temps to be expect from stock cooler? Or it something wrong?
