So swaying towards the i5 and ssd, is there any brands of ssds or a good size you would recommend?

I decided to go with a Samsung because of the reliability. But if you aren't really bothered too much about that then many 250 - 500GB SSDs can be found quite cheap on amazon, etc.

I went for the Samsung 850 EVO on Amazon. They do both a 250GB and a 500GB.

That's absolutely great, thanks ever so much. How did you find it, what are the speeds like compared to your old one? Any idea what the differences are with the Pro and Evo versions?

I've found it ok, I came from an old crucial SSD to this. I think the only differences between the PRO and the EVO is the reliability. As in, it can take more writes or something but the price difference for me wasn't worth it.

So i realised that I don't have the tools with me at uni to chage my hard drives around so would have to wait till i go home for summer whcih is about a month away, so my htough was get the i7 and cooler now and then come summer ill have a bit more money which i can then spend on replacing my os drive which is a 3.5" mechanicla 400gb drive.
I realise the i7 is overkill atm, but being hopeful that it will last me longer than the i5 would as an upgrade to anything better is a mobo, ram and cpu upgrade cause of the new socket and ram type.
