Claybook ray-traces at 4.88 Gigarays/s on AMD Vega 64. Primary RT pass. Shadow rays are slightly slower. 1 GB volumetric scene. 4K runs at 60 fps. Runs even faster on my Titan X. And with temporal upsampling even mid tier cards render 4K at almost native quality.
The RTX2070 can do 6 Gigarays/s in comparison. It even seems Pascal is not that bad either. The chap was a former senior rendering lead at Ubisoft.

Looks quite a bit like we are facing a gameworks/physx scenario again, where really all Nvidia does is package something up, kinda like a plug in for developers, making it marginally easy to develop their game rather than going the universal and potentially more difficult route.

I had a kind of disagreement with the Battalion 1944 developers in the early alpha days, and they started going on about how much easier it was to develop on Nvidia and how bad AMD cards are, claiming that if we're not developing a game there is no way we can disagree with them...

I wonder if that's the max done on shaders vs done in separate, dedicated hardware on Nvidia though? If that's the case then obviously you wouldn't have all of that performance available for games.

See CB have punished done leaked prices for i9-9900K:

    https://www.computerbase.de/2018-08/...-i7-9700-euro/
    €560!
So looks like the 8C/8T i7 will slot in near the old 8700K price, will the new LGA 115x flagship will be around 25% more.
Maybe they're soldering with gold and platinum!

You would think Intel would at least feel the walls closing in on them a little bit, but they dont really seem to care?

Vega 12 spotted in open source driver code:

I wonder if it is a new GPU for desktop or laptop??

In gaming perhaps they have something of a lead, elsewhere that's debatable.

That article confirms Eypc launches before Ryzen next year on 7NM. Also AMD will have the first large production 7NM GPU in Vega20 for commercial usage. I think they have given up until Navi to try and compete with Nvidia in PC gamin graphics TBH!

I thought that was clear enough that I got a Vega GPU rather than wait. They still seem to be struggling to hit launch pricing with existing Vega though.

I find it hard to believe that it's sold at a loss at this stage TBH, it could just be propaganda?

Well at the discounted prices apparently - if you look at a recent AT article,Hynix HBM2 is only available now,and apparently that is meant to be cheaper than the Samsung equivalent.

Quick google didnt throw anyting up, but it would be interesting to find out if anyone has one with Hynix and how it compares in overclocking/temps etc.
