    They trade blows.

I was really surprised to see just how well the Ryzen 5 1600 and 1600x did. My memory from the launch was that they were slower. Maybe its the AGESA updates and/or faster memory.
Apparently SB/IB/Haswell are "slow" too - luckily there seems to be sane people who are thinking WTF,but I wonder whether the others people actually enjoy a game or just keep pondering at the FPS counter.

I mean its one thing if a game is giving 30FPS on Ryzen and like 50FPS on Intel or something like that, but when its like 80FPS vs 90FPS,or 150FPS vs 180FPS it makes me wonder what reality people are in.

    Edit!!

Interestingly enough the Core i5 8400 is "fast enough". Apparently all CPUs prior to Coffee Lake are now useless according to some. Just wow!

Except scanning forums, not all of them are using said monitors and then you have GSync/FreeSync too.

The problem is even a Core i5 8400 won't be enough to push 120FPS in some games, and not even a Core i7 8700K will do it in all especially at qHD and 4K as GPU limits can hit. I mean they are suggesting CPU upgrades when people are clearly on decent CPUs and could do with a GPU upgrade,or trying their best to push it as an upgrade.

    What would you rather have - a clocked Core i7 4770K/4790K with a GTX1080/GTX1080TI at qHD or a Core i7 8700K with a GTX780/R9 290 at the same resolution??

I mean I am on a locked IB Core i7 and I found I was still GPU limited at qHD with a number of games at GTX1080,and the one modern game I thought hit a CPU limit was as much due to some DX12 weirdness in the game. Only FO4 is realistically bottlenecked at qHD for me,and that is what happens when you have a few 100 mods and 23 story towers in your settlements. That is a real CPU limit not some of the fake ones - sometimes when they quote FPS figures it makes me LOL.

ROTTR is one of them - I finished that game with a GTX960. Only one area can be very taxing on CPU and GPU and that is the Village of the Remnants. Its the areas reviewers use for CPU testing and GPU testing.
The only thing is you don't spend half the game there,so realistically when people say a newer CPU "smashes" an older one in the game,it means nothing since 95% of the game will be less taxing for example.

    Re: Coffeelake review thread

I updated the OP with the DF review of the Core i5 8400 and Core i5 8600k. Interestingly enough even they seem to prefer the 8400 over the 1600/1600x they also highlighted two scenarios, where the Intel chip had worse FPS and more jitter in heavy scenes and Ryzen seemed to show more consistent performance.
