    Intel to bring forward 10NM??

They are already making tiny 10NM CPUs for laptops,so I wonder if this means 10NM desktop CPUs:

According to a research note by Boston-based BlueFin Research Partners, via Bloomberg, Intel is finally making “significant strides” on the 10nm front, prompting contact with suppliers about a possible H1 2019 launch. Production is said to begin as early as April, up to six weeks ahead of the company’s public roadmap.

    This might be why:

    https://www.ces.tech/News/Press-Rele...8-ad65a2652e47

In 2019, AMD will catapult computing, gaming, and visualization technologies forward with the world’s first 7nm high-performance CPUs and GPUs, providing the power required to reach technology’s next horizon. During her CES keynote, Dr. Su and guests will provide a view into the diverse applications for new computing technologies ranging from solving some of the world’s toughest challenges to the future of gaming, entertainment and virtual reality with the potential to redefine modern life.
    Looks like more CPU wars!!

That's the 'Why', and for the 'How' after not being able to deliver 10nm for years, wasn't the rumour that Intel has greatly relaxed what they consider 10nm to get stuff out the door.
Of course, your first rumour is exactly the kind of thing we would expect Intel to leak if too many places cover AMD and 7nm.

    Yep:

Also,LOL,now AMD will be on 7NM quicker than I expected(the AMD release talks about gaming so that infers consumer grade CPUs),and I just finally upgraded, but I suppose after 7 years on socket 1155,anything newish will be an upgrade!!
