    I7-9700k - 100c!

    Hi

First up, let me just say I've RMA'd the CPU back to Scan for testing, so there's nothing I can do to resolve this issue at the moment.

I've recently upgraded my rig with a 9700K. My temps whilst running stock settings hits 100C under load, using applications such as Prime95 and Aida64. If I turn off Turbo in the bios this stops temperatures reaching 100C. I should add that my CPU cooler is a Corsair H115i.

    I have tried:
    Reseating the CPU multiple times
    Switching CPU cooler
    Different thermal compound
    Different fans on cpu cooler
Manually entering voltage for turbo - anything past 1.2v goes straight to 100C when running P95 or Aida64.

If anyone has any suggestions on what else I could try, I'd be interested to hear what they may be!

    Specs:
    CPU: i7-9700K stock settings
    Cooler: Corsair H115i w/ 2xML140 Pro
Mobo: MSI Z390 MPG Gaming Edge AC
RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 2x8gb 3000mhz
    GPU: MSI GTX 970
    PSU: Corsair AX 760

A couple of quick guesses would be the motherboard setting voltages incorrectly, or faulty soldering between die and heat spreader. Have you checked compatibility between mono and CPU with that BIOS version?

At the risk of sounding like I'm taking the piss, have you tried different methods of applying the thermal interface material?
