Lad got his new Ryzen 3600
So just put it together in a tuff x470.
Starts it up noooo
No post then checked bios ....
Yep now I'm going to have to take mine apart water-cooling and all stick my chip in his to flash ... What a ball ache

The joys of new hardware eh.
My main PC now has a 3700X, which is an awesome bit of kit and Elite Dangerous (my upgrade reason) now plays in VR way smoother.
Then I try and boot into Fedora Linux, and the rdrand instruction bug hits me. Tried updating systemd to a test version and for some reason it hasn't worked, was expecting a new BIOS to be released by now but the AGESA has been pulled due to the PCIe negotiation issues so no fix there.
To get some work done, I have pulled the Linux SSD and am typing this on an old socket AM2+ machine with that SSD in it.
This is why the sensible option would have been when I sent the old 2600X back for me to get a new 2600X rather than waiting a couple of months for the latest silicon. But then the sensible option was never really me
At least when I put the 3700X in I could find the two motherboard mounts for the factory heatsink, as the 2200G used 4 screws straight into the backplate.
If you don't want the hassle your lad would qualify for an AMD loan chip as it's a x470

Not sure how long it takes though
Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.

Start with the basics: Ping test to router for packet loss. Try a different cable. Check link is full duplex and full speed.
Realtek lan should be fine, a gigabit is nothing these days.

Try a different port on the switch, try disconnecting something else on the switch. It could the that end, or the cable. 10Mb drives the cable very differently from GbE.
your a star thx you ... all's good now ..

If this was a problem on the switch end I would get a spare switch
It might just be the heatwave, it might be the switch PSU giving up (they tend to be nasty cheap switch-mode plugs on consumer gear) or it might be the switch failing.
Edit: In case anyone read my frustrated rant above, my 3700X is now working in Linux and Windows. I am very happy with it! This is why I didn't take the sensible option
