The Core i5 10400 appears to be a bit faster than the Ryzen 5 3600,and power consumption looks decent.

That looks like a pretty decent choice for a gaming system - once cheap intel boards are available it'll be good competition for the 3600, provided the cheap intel boards aren't too gimped on features

    Core i5 10400 review:

    Edit!!

    Core i5 10400F review:
    https://translate.google.co.uk/trans...10400f-test%2F

Apparently there is a native 6 core version of the Core i5 10400F which has thermal paste, and a 10 core based version with solder. Computerbase got the native 6 core version.

The 10400 does suffer on slower RAM, according to GN, B and H series boards will max out at 2933 (based on a quick scan around the big four's B & H specs). So, you need a Z series board to get the best out of it.

I mean, there will be some people who pair it with a Z board with a view to upgrade in the future but it's likely that later chipset 1200 boards will have newer, more desirable features and lot of people buy new and sell their older bundle as one.

I was surprised at how damning that GN review was.

For those who haven't seen the video: GN basically said either get the 10600K or the Ryzen 3600 (or the 3300X if gaming on a really tight budget)

Is it my imagination, or have the 9600K & 9700K just rocketed up the best selling charts on Amazon now that Intel's 10K series is announced?

Have they dropped in price too?
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Jarrod's Tech - another reviewer who doesn't get it. Who is going to buy a Z490 board with an i3? So why bench that chip with RAM speeds it can't use on boards that 99.9% of them with populate?

He has pinned a comment underneath (after a moment of clarity, no doubt), but people are going to look at the results and get a false picture of the i3's gaming performance.

Now it appears there are two versions of the Core i5 10400:
    https://www.techpowerup.com/267757/p...omes-with-stim

One which is based on the 10 core part and has the improved thermal interfaced, and a native 6 core one with a normal IHS.

That raises a few questions. Are the F series chips just a way to make lemonade from dies with iffy iGPUs, or does the F series require a different stepping?

It might also explain the reported short supplies of the K sku chips - low yields of higher end dies being binned down to 10400 chips? IDK, Scan seem to be ok for stock atm.

AFAIK,more to do with making use of CPUs they can't sell to OEMs,as OEMs tend to require integrated graphics.

TPU is giving the Core i5 10400F a recommended over the Ryzen 5 3600:
    https://www.techpowerup.com/review/i...ore-i5-10400f/

They used an aftermarket cooler and a Z490 motherboard with faster RAM.

Z490 kinda blows the value comparison out of the water.
