Scan Computers Sent me Wrong Item.

ordered Nzxt Z73 paid £270 including accidentail damage coverage, I recieved x73

I have been building a new pc i had all parts, I was waiting on last 2 parts Z73 CPU cooler & corsair LQ120mm 3set Fans, after i received item i started to build the pc not noticing that the z72 was in fact x73 Only when i turned PC on & saw the NZXT badge light up behind the sticker that says install everything first before switching on. i contacted Scan computers & they messaged me This:

    Good Morning XXXXXXXX

It does appear that unfortunately the latest orders of Z73's and X73's have had the incorrect serial numbers on them when arriving in.

Can you please confirm if you would prefer a return for a refund with this item or a return for a replacement of the correct stock?

    Kind regards,

    XXXXXXXXXX
    Scan Computers

My question is? because i have installed the item will i still get refund. I checked online & both the x73 & z73 come in the same box you literally cant tell them apart except for a single letter.

Would that single letter difference be the massive letter x or z in huge font size plastered right across the box?

(also the wider image is different with the temp number display vs the logo)

I think that's big enough that you probably should have spotted that when unpacking the delivery. It's not like a small deviation in serial number or something trivial hidden in the small print. I'm not sure what Scan will decide but since you have opened the unit and installed it they can't resell it as new to someone else. Had you not opened it it would be a simple refund/swap as they say. Your best option is probably to reply and say "to save everyone hassle of return, restocking etc how about just refund the difference and I'll keep this one" then you're not out of pocket and don't have to rebuild either. If you really want the z reorder it and flog the x on ebay.

Re: Scan Computers Sent me Wrong Item.

It looks to me like Scan have already acknowledged the error, and offered to refund or replace. By the sound of it, it wasn't their fault either, but it wasn't what the customer ordered.

The question, it seems to me, is whether there's enough difference between the two itesms to be worth taking it off and sending it back, and waiting for the correct item to arrive. So, does it really matter? If not, keep the existing item and if it's less expensive than the correct one, just ask for a refund of the difference. If it does, send it back and answer Scan's question replacement with correct item, or refund?

That's not how the human brain works. You will be amazed with what kind of things normal, reasonable people simply don't notice. When you're expecting one and get the other, I bet most people wouldn't notice.

15 passes and I did notice the Gorilla, and even clocked the travelling violation! I'm not sure if it's the amount of gaming I've been doing recently but my eyes found that incredibly easy to watch the whole scene. LOL at the rest of the video. Clowns... Comedy.

First thing I check on delivery of a GPU/TV/DVR etc is that they've sent me the right model.

but do they understand it's been opened and installed? If so then great all's well, if not then the OP might have a problem

Probably says more about your personality than your gaming habit.

If the order stated Z73 and the invoice stated Z73, the contract was breached when the supplier sent out the wrong part. If the supplier loses out because the part was fitted before the error came to light, that is down to the supplier and a cost of doing business. There are always risks on both sides of a supply contract, as AstraZeneca and the EU are currently finding out.

but do they understand it's been opened and installed? If so then great all's well, if not then the OP might have a problem
The breach is so fundamental it is unlikely to be side-stepped by Ts&Cs and I suspect Scan are well aware of that. (Think bait and switch and how illegal that is.)

Hopefully you're right, but I can see a counter argument that the error should have been apparent before the item was opened. I really don't know which will take precedent tbh.

When receiving shiny new kit, the human mind is not capable of calmly checking tiny details like the exact wording on a box, nor is the human eye capable of properly focussing on said data when pressured by such excitement.

Anyone who says otherwise has clearly not ordered something exciting enough.

Am I the only one who checks a box for correct labelling and untampered seals before opening? Seriously?

Labels mean nothing, as you can still have incorrect contents inside.
In this case, Scan themselves have said that the serial numbers were wrong, so they also don't rely on what the box says!

Sometimes manufacturers swap out components for upgraded versions, like with res mounts, so will break the box seals on existing stock.
If you buy a new mobo and CPU, some retailers will install the CPU for you to minimise the chances of bent pins and painful RMA hassles, which results in broken seals... and occasionally cries from customers who think they've received an empty CPU box!

He shouldnt have. He ordered Product A, and got sent Product B. And that should be the end of the issue, not whether, or when (*) he noticed. Scan seem to agree with that, so it's largely academic.

It also doesn't matter, in the situation between the OP and Scan that they got sent the wrong product, too. That does, however, give Scan some comeback against their suppliers, but that fight isn't anything to do with BillyK. It's between Scan and their supplier.

(*) Within reason, I mean. If I bought something and the wrong, but very similar item was supplied, I'm not duty bound to notice instantly. If I noticed after using it for months, that might be different. It'd, at the least, be far more tricky proving the wrong item was supplied.

On a similar note, I probably would notice the discrepancy straight away, as I tend to be a bit (in the sense that Everest is a bit of a hill) cynical, and I assume that if something can go wrong, it likely will or already has.

I have just today had a discussion with a pharmacy as to why my regular prescription for a tablet is for 10mg of a drug, and that that is what their stick-on label says they supplied, but the printed box says 5mg. Oops.

Oh, and neither the "dispensed by" or "checked by" boxes are initialled. They very rarely are from that pharmacy. It's the final culmination of months of issues (largely, either things missing, or things present that shouldn't have been .... like morphine), and though not all originated with the pharmacy, most did. I have changed pharmacy.
