Seem AMD have successfully got the stock out and now there is many new on ebay for around £300.
Just been looking through sold many of the new sold appear to be individuals who had a couple.
So scalpers are now selling at a loss which feels good.

It might be some people were waiting for the 5950X to become available, which they now seem to be, so these might be upgrades that were always expected to be a stop-gap and sold on.
Or perhaps they are for Chia mining, and miners have given up.
Nice spot whatever the reason.
I can only guess the opened not used is to reduced bulk in storage/postage as they don't come with coolers anyway.
I will say many are still £310-£350 but selling prices are just below £300.
To test I have added a some to my watch list and offers are coming in, lowest so far is £291. (selling can send offers to watchers).
In my case I need a second pc for editing now so my plan is to upgrade from my 3700x and use the 3700x in the 'new' computer.
Its just when to jump in, prices could drop lower but as the scalper stock dries up it will rise again as they are still below msrp, we are currently in the race to the bottom to get rid and the lower it goes the more will lower prices to get sold before it drops further but it won't last forever as non will be restocking.
I don't believe so, if I remember correctly last time I was selling with buy it now I did have the option to send an offer to watchers.
The £291 has sold/disappeared, there is a couple of auctions finishing over the following days too.

This is where I had an ebay account.
It's hard to feel sorry for them isn't it?
Anyway, I think I saw something similar with Xbox Series X consoles a while back. I know they're still not available in excess, but I think if you really wanted once since launch you probably would have one by now - I've just been casually observing the situation and have had several opportunities to at least preorder one at RRP (credit where it's due - the major retailers are still selling consoles at RRP when they have stock from what I've seen). After what seemed to be a major shipment to retailers, I saw tons of XSX consoles on ebay for around the £500 mark. Once you subtract ebay, paypal and shipping fees, I doubt they were even breaking even.
Annoyingly, I've also seen TONS of rule-breaking ebay listings for consoles e.g. advertising for significantly below RRP but with a description saying something along the lines of "do not buy without contacting me via whatsapp number in photo - order will be cancelled and refunded" or asking for banned payment methods to bypass ebay fees. I reported a load of them, and none of them seemed to get taken down. I understand the logic behind the bot-targeting 'photo edition' listings, but there are lots of shady sellers out there too, it's just disappointing they don't get taken down more quickly as even ebay aren't benefiting from it - the unscrupulous sellers are just exploiting the platform. Have a look yourselves, you'll probably find loads of them if you haven't already noticed.
The is one listed now and just checking their feedback and the have 9 sold at £285-£300.
Plus there is one listed and some may not have left feedback.
5800x for £300, vs a 5600x for ~£260, hmmmm
Just had a look, cheapest 5800x's are £330 vs £245 for the 5600x, guessing they arent all getting rid yet so they're not sat on CPU's they cant shift..

I would guess they won't drop much lower as many will accept the saving below msrp over time, there is a couple at £304.80 buy it now ring now.
So the 5800x is currently in stock and available at the very first retailer I checked, at £389.
Woud I buy one with iffy credentials, by which I mean "new but no box" or "new buy open", from eBay, at £300? Hell, no.
Why?
First, £389 without the VAT is £325. Not enough price difference to deal with an unknown seller on the likes of eBay.
Second, unless the seller is a business I trust to still be there in the future, you're in private-sale territory not protected by Consumer \Rights Act, etc.
And yes, maybe any AMD warranty transfers, but maybve it doesn't. I haven't looked, and can't be bothered to do so.
But either way, I'm not buying what appears, description notwithstanding, to be used items as "new but .... ", at anything near that price. At half the new price? Maybe.
But finally, if this is a scalper firesale, I'm not buying from them on principle, so I won't buy those, just in case it is. I'd much rather pay the £389 to Scan or whoever, and let the scalpers stew in their own juice. I certainly won't be part of bailing them out, though no doubt, enough people will.

Yeah fully agreed, there's no way I'd be buying one of these on a mix of likely losing consumer rights, and on the principal of bailing out unscrupulous scalpers.
Certainly a valid point, I will say if a vat registered business its a no brainer as you say.
As for consumer protection, if it comes and doesn't work or work correctly send it back, if it does it will probably continue to do so long term.
As for bailing the scalpers it depends how you see it, yes best case it would be they are stuck with them forever until worthless but you already know that isn't happening, but them making a significant loss on each sale isn't a bad outcome in the real world.
By all mean I am not saying your wrong, more so there isn't a right/wrong way here.
