Will an 8 year old Hyper 212 Evo Cooler work well with a 10700KF?
I currently use a Hyper 212 Evo Cooler, with a 4770K CPU, clocked at 4.2Ghz. I had to replace the fan a few years ago, so I replaced it with a long life fluid dynamic ball bearing fan.
Will this ancient, rather large cooler be sufficient to cool a 10700KF? This CPU will probably only be ran at turbo boost speeds (I'm going to buy an OC limited B560 motherboard).

I have the 212 black, it cools my 5800x, which is very very hot (but very very fast) due to the aggressive boost, so I would imagine it would be fine tbh, I would go with it, see how it performs, if you're not happy then buy a new one.

That's good to know. I might run it at a lower TDP if needed, or reduce the voltage / clock rate. Or, disabling hyper threading can help a lot with temps.
I've heard the 5800x can run super hot, did you know you can reduce the TDP setting to 65W? It should similarly to a 5800 non X (OEM CPU), at a significantly lower temp.

Yeah it can get real toasty in benchmarks, hitting 90c in CB23 on a half hour run, that's with just a slight undervolt too, gaming it's totally fine, never see it hit over 60c.
I did have a read about setting a lower TDP but that would really hold this CPU back...... And I like FAST>>>>
Cheers anyway.
I honestly think you'll be fine with that 212, as long as you have good air flow in your case I can't see it being a problem.

I built my PC and have been playing around with mobo settings and overclocking it for a few days. I had to reduce the voltage (1.15v) to get it to function at acceptable temperatures on load, at all core turbo frequencies.

FWIW, I use a 212 evo on a 9900 as well as a Xeon 2650 v3, both are more than happy.

I have a 10700K and it's quite toasty especially overclocked, consuming about 180W+ max. To pair with a 212, you'd have to undervolt massively and avoid demanding workloads I reckon

So I'll say up front that I don't have a Hyper 212 Evo, but I do have a Noctua NH-D14.
I bought the Noctua heatsink/fan back in 2009 when I was on a Core2 Q6600(!!!) and it's still one of the best coolers that money can buy! Pretty much only the Noctua NH-D15 is better than it, but not by a whole lot from what I've read. It's stayed relavent due to how well made it is, with competition only matching the big Noctua coolers, but also because the included Noctua fans just keep going and, more importantly Noctua offer free mounting hardware for any new CPU sockets, for life!
I'm not saying the Hyper 212 won't work well for your use case, I'm just saying, sometimes it's worth spending a premium when, in the long run, you'll definitely get your money's worth!
Re: Will an 8 year old Hyper 212 Evo Cooler work well with a 10700KF?
My Hyper 212 evo V1 did me from a 960T (unlocked to 6 core @4ghz iirc) to a 4770k @ 4.3 and then finally a 9400F until I finally upgraded to a Bequiet Shadow Rock slim (due to noise). If it could handle my 4770k and 960T, it'll handle* a 10700k with no worries.
*When I say handle...only delidding would have got a proper handle on that bloody hot 4770k
