I'm interested to see how the 3d cache variants perform against the standard 5000 series chips, but I won't be replacing mine any time soon.

Yep, might be time to upgrade my 3700X

I'll leave AM5 a while to shake down on price, choice of parts and let them get the bugs out of the early motherboards before I start adopting that.

Looks very very smart. For gaming I think it'll be hard to beat, though it'll probably cost the same as the next chip up.

    Re: New AMD cpu 2022

Knowing how much the 5000 series cost over the 3000 series,I shudder to think how much the 6000 series will cost and the motherboards.

Also,as nice as all these high end variants are,I really am interested in what is available under £300.

There seems to me to be quite a bit of movement in that area promised for later this year.

My worry is two fold - quite when, and in what quantity, and how much of recent announcements is marketing gobblydegook smoke and mirror technobabble, and how much will translate into real-world significant changes, either at high, low or .... errr .... middle 'end'.

I will want to see a tuckload of third-party tests before deciding.

Honestly, the 3700X is working just fine for me. But I do max it out all the time when I'm working, so some more performance would be nice even if it isn't really necessary. OTOH one of my kids is on a 2200G still, and I think they would really benefit from a 3700X because I'm not going to buy them the 5000 series am I

Show off lol. I quite like the 5900x and it's the fist time ever using an AMD chip and no complaints here

    Re: New AMD cpu 2022

I had a lot of pain with the 1x00 and 2x00 series Ryzen chips - as much as I really wanted to love them, I just couldn't. The R5 3600 was great though and the i9 9900 does everything I need.

The 5950x is complete overkill for me, but the price was great and I had money burning a hole in my pocket, and it was definitely more want than need.

Grab that. Get that. Check it out. Bring that here. Grab anything useful. Take anything good.

    Re: New AMD cpu 2022

Looking interesting but I doubt I will be swapping out my current board/ram soon with DDR5 prices etc. but I am keeping an eye on the 5 series to upgrade from my 3700x, not due to needing it but being a final destination for my setup, prices could be effected but also intel are putting pressure on again.

The 5800x3D does look very interesting.

If I could order them from Amazon, they might be!!

The really messed up thing is I stripped down the R9 rig at the weekend and it's sitting in a box, awaiting it's new home; which might not arrive until March!

If I had a suitable case for the R9 to sit in right now, the 9900 chip and ITX board would be up on Ebay this weekend.
