    Monitor Help please

    Hi guys,
I need to buy a new monitor as my current monitor has decided to pack up. Its a 19" widescreen monitor by Hanns G.

Can you guys please recommend links to good sites/retailers/bargains/online stores that do decent monitors. My budget is £80-£100. Any recommendations/advise in regards to monitors is welcome.

Thanks guys, any help is appreciated.

See Cat 5Th excellent summary here.

For you that would probably be the Benq G22 HDL
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

    Re: Monitor Help please

Thanks Phage, i guess 20+" monitors are pretty much the standard nowadays? I was quite happy with the size of my old monitor (19" wide) so i wouldn't mind something smaller or paying slightly more if it had better performance.

If i am correct Scan wasnt the best for monitors, where else should i look? Thx again.

Nothing wrong with Scan or any of the others. I would look at the usual suspects plus Amazon and Dell Outlet.

    Or possibly Atari.

Also the dead pixels problems seems to appear to be a non issue with flat panels these days so there's no need to worry there either

Nothing wrong with buying from Scan, but check prices on other sites before pressing the buy button. I just got myself a dell U2711 (fantastic), I was going to buy it from Scan as I usually get my hardware from them, but checked around and found that Amazon was ~£25 cheaper (guess I don't have to say who I brought from?)

    Re: Monitor Help please

I found the he BenQ G2222 HDL on Dabs (£102) and BT online shop (£104) any experience using any of these? Are they reasonable in terms of delivery as I am without a PC right now, otherwise I might just get it from Play for slightly more.

Oh more importantly what is the warranty on the BenQ G2222 HDL? there is no mention of warranty in either website (including BenQ's )

    Thx again.

    Re: Monitor Help please

I've never used the BT shop, so can't really comment. Iuse to use Dabs, maybe 5/6 yrs ago and never had any problems (the only reason I stopped using them is that I decided to cull the list of online shops that I use, all the passwords/emails were getting unmanageable), so if dabs is the best price you can get the monitor for I see no reason not to go for it.

By the way BT brought Dabs back in 2006.

About the warranty, I've just drawn a blank for the g2222, some other benq monitors offer 2 yr and some 3, sorry.

    Re: Monitor Help please

My tip would be to keep your eyes peeled on the HotUKDeals site, they have some great bargains appear. Use the 'new' and 'computers' tabs to grab a bargain before it hits the main screen and sells out
