    Laptop screen keeps switching off

    Hi all,

I'm having some real problems with my laptop screen over the last few days. It keeps losing what I (noob) deem to be the backlight. It goes dark, but if I shine a light on it or sit next to the window I can just about still see then text. It has been flickering recently so I reckon there might be something majorly wrong.

If I press the power button it will come back on and stay on for a minute or so, then dim back down. Anyone any ideas what the cause might be or how I can sort it?

    Cheers

Could be a dodgy inverter board, inverter cable, backlight, motherboard or Windows being unhappy about something.

Is the computer still under warranty?

Does pressing the power button for a short moment always turn the backlight back on or just somethimes? Does pressing a key on the keyboard have the same effect?

Have you tried doing a full recovery of Windows to see if the problem goes away?
