The ViewSonic VX2453MH

I am considering on buying this monitor, as I need one for my new build - the design is very slim, and it has a lot of features that really appeal to me, such as the fact it has 2 HDMI ports; what this means is I am able to connect this monitor to my graphics card, but also my Xbox 360 or PS3, if I ever wanted to game on it.
It unfortunately doesn't have a DVI slot, which I probably would not have used, but it would have been nice to have had the option. I'm not sure about this, but from what I have read, there is no difference in the quality provided by DVI or HDMI - though HDMI seems to give out more faded colours and shows pixels more noticeably than DVI, if the screen size is lower than 24"? I'm unsure about this, so if anyone could clarify with me, that would be great. Meanwhile, I have been hearing a lot of bad reviews on the positioning of the buttons, they're not touch sensitive, which doesn't bother me, but apparently, their position on the side is annoying for most users.
The sound is another issue too... The monitor has built-in speakers, that should not be spoken about haha. It doesn't really affect me though, since the monitor itself has audio in and out ports, which is perfect, as I have a decent set of 2.1 surround sound speakers I could plug in. So no issues on that front.
One last thing though is the brightness levels and the menu guide. When you turn the screen on for the first time, the brightness is "blinding"? Something that can be fixed with changing modes (from what I've read), which I think won't be too hard for me. The description says a 30000000:1 contrast ratio, though when you look into the technical details section, it says 100000:1... Which is the real value? If anyone knows, please postI plan on gaming a lot, as well as a lot of photoshop editing, so having good contrast ratios is somewhat important to me. I don't want faded black colours, etc. On another note though, the menu is hard to get used to for most of the people that gave a review (Taking reviews from Amazon.com), though not enough clearance on the ease of switching between the 2 HDMI ports.
Anyway, back onto my original question: What do you think? Is this monitor worth its cost? And are ViewSonic reliable (as I have never bought one of their products before)? Thanks for reading and I hope you enlighten me with some opinions (and answers to the other questions I asked).
Eddie
