Hi, really looking for a few tips on a choice for a new monitor after making a bit of an error. I did my searching around and research and decided I would spend a bit extra and go for an Asus PA238Q 23 ProArt. Unfortunately I was disappointed with it to say the least, the levels of "backlight bleed" in bottom left and top right corners were just awful, it made watching Films impossible and even a bit of gaming was spoilt (on dark scenes). Found it just too distracting.
I also found the anti-glare coating on the screen took a bit of getting used too, I’m used to using an oldish (very old?) GNR 17" TFT from many moons ago but the anti glare effect on the ASUS ProArt made the screen to me look almost dirty? Specifically on a white background (looking at web pages). Its since been returned and im back to looking for a new choice.
I tried an AOC i2353Ph/Fh in a shop (cheaper but quite stylish looking) to see what i thought and in all honesty the backlight bleed effect was just as bad as the ASUS i returned, noticeable in shop lighting so that was a no go.
Basically looking for advise on a monitor 21-23inch which has minimal (very low) backlight issues and doesn’t have an anti-glare coating on the front that makes the screen look like its covered in dust. Budget £200-£250 max. Monitor primarily used for the net and some gaming, mostly FPS games and X3 TC Space Sim game. (lots of dark space based scenes that backlight bleed is unwelcome in).
I think I have narrowed it down to either a Dell U2312HM or HP ZR2740w but am open to suggestions if anyone has anything more suited?
These really are picked from reviews I've read and I haven’t had a chance to see these monitors in use before I buy so would appreciate any user who use these in day to day operation . Is it a trait of IPS LED panels to suffer from backlight bleed issues where as TN LED panels don't have such issues or really have i just been unlucky with the monitors I bought and have been viewing?
Many Thanks
