    New all-round monitor

    Hey guys,

Don't know too much about monitors so was wondering if you could help me out.

Size isn't an issue (anything over 20") as im not sure what I actually need.

Mostly be playing games / web design / graphic design. Doubt i'll be watching any movies, if any.

    Was looking at:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/236-s...1-230cd-m2-5ms

Budget is around that price also.

Be great if you could help

    Re: New all-round monitor

This should help you with types of monitors: hxxp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TFT_LCD
Fully understand it can be confusing as there is so many types & makes it's hard to make a choice.

I've been looking for one myself as I'll be building a new system. I personally had enough of TN panels with bad viewing angles and the banding you get when not looking straight on. I'm looking to get IPS monitor as I do a bit of photo/image editing.
So far there's three I like on Scan all 24" , Dell U2412M, Dell U2410 or Asus PA246Q. The Dell U2412M is the cheapest of the three, it's just under twice the price of the Samsung screen you linked to.

    Hope this is of help.

It was the budget that stumped me. I think the Dell would be way to go, but in that price range a nice IPS is hard to find.

Heavenkiss if you go down to a 23" monitor you can get an ips screen Viewsonic 23" VX2336S for £135.88 from scan.

    Re: New all-round monitor

Yer screen size isn't an issue. I use a 20 at work and its plenty, but ive had alot of recommendations for 24 so was sticking with that.

What do you guys use for gaming?

Ill check out your recomendations thanks

If you can, pony up for the U2412M because it's an absolute bargain for a great monitor.
