Are all 23-24" monitors only 1080?

Been thinking about changing my monitor, as it is a good few years old and I would like something bigger, now the problem I have is that I used an old 20" crt at a very high resolution, and when I got this 19" viewsonic lcd, I made sure to get one with the highest res I could (1680x1050 which at the time was the highest res you could get on a 19") as I kinda hate having a screen where everything is too big and having used a friends 24" 1080 monitor everything just looked far too big.
So are there any 23-24" screens out there with a higher res, even if it's only a small step up like 2048x1152 I saw a Samsung monitor with this res, but it didn't get very good reviews and seems to be out of production.

    Dell U2412M - IPS 1920 x 1200
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

16:10 aspect ratio monitors as Phage notes are reasonable common (I wish they'd gone for them at work rather than 16:9). Higher resolution ones do exist but are generally specialist (read pricey).

There seems to be a cult following of two 2560x1440 monitors that are doing the rounds as 'bargain's.

A few on Aria have bought them as well.

Re: Are all 23-24" monitors only 1080?

TVs are driving LCD production, so most monitor LCDs these days are from TV production lines (hence the death of 1920x1200 compared to 1080p)

And TVs don't benefit from higher resolutions, so volumes are low, and prices are high

I actually found myself on that thread with a bit of googling myself, and was almost going to hit buy it now on this one:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1407505028...84.m1952.l2649
But considering I have just spent £300 on a new receiver I figured it is prob best to wait til next month before making any big purchases, plus getting something from Korea fills me with dread, also 27" might be a bit too big really :O

I recommend the HP LA2405wg it's 24" 1920x1200 with Display Port. Really nice monitor, it's not IPS, but the picture is pretty awesome, great for Eyefinity gaming.

You can pick them up pretty cheap on eBay for about £150 to £210.

Trouble is, they're the wrong aspect ratio at 16:9. For documents 16:10 is better, so long as the screen is big enough to allow the app. to be made narrower than the screen and leave space for something else.

Holy crap, that page almost gave me a marketing seizure!

I have a Samsung that has a res of 2048. Been pretty happy with it in all honesty. It's analogue, but the picture is pin sharp.

I wish they'd bring out higher resolution, 120Hz monitors. I'd snap a couple of them right up.

Will that monitor need a new PSU to work here or is the one supplied ok? I'm thinking of getting one.
I'll wait until you get yours and see how much customs charges etc will be.

It's a standard kettle/monitor cable that you need. A user on Aria got his for £230 including customs charges.
