6 x Monitors and Stand for Trading Setup

    Hi there,
I am currently specifying a Trading System for my father. Obviously a key component is the monitors...he is looking to buy 6 new monitors and an appropriate stand.

His desk is approximately 70" wide, so I guess the maximum width of the monitors should be around 20" - 22".

At the moment I am planning on putting in this Graphics Card which I believe supports 6 different screens: Power Color Eyefinity 6 Edition Radeon HD 7870 AMD Graphics Card - 2GB

The card seems to require DisplayPort connections, so ideally the monitor recommendation should be for DisplayPort monitors so he is not messing around with adaptors etc.

As the monitors will be on for very long periods each day (my father trades in the UK and US markets) he is looking for something that will be reasonably power efficient...maybe an LED?

Budget wise, he is probably looking to get the monitors for less than £250 (incl VAT) each.

Please let me know your thoughts on the monitors and a stand for them as well.

    Thanks!

PS: He does have 6 old monitors, but they are all different sizes and resolutions and so he is looking to get 6 new ones as part of his new system build.

You would primarily need a suitable 6 monitor stand. This is the only one I know of that's meant to be good: http://www.google.co.uk/products/cat...ed=0CEEQgggwAA

Very few UK sellers, seems to be only really sold in the US.

Then you could get something like 6 of these: http://www.scan.co.uk/products/215-d...gadp-usb-black (I have 2 myself and they're excellent)

That's 1920x1080, so almost the biggest resolution you can get, LED, and IPS (better colours and viewing angles, which can be crucial if the screen isn't dead ahead of you).

You don't need to spend anywhere close to £250 each on the monitors.

The only reason I would spend more would be to get one with resolution of 1920x1200, i.e. http://www.scan.co.uk/products/24-de...0001-8ms-4xusb but it's 2" wider than you'd like, much more expensive, and would put the stand I linked to right at its limit on size.

    Thanks for this.

I did see a couple of other things, but you are correct: it seems pretty limited here in the UK

    Any experience of these?

The Dell Ultrasharp does look good...is there a good review I can point out to my Dad on it?

Yes, thanks to everyone for their contributions.

In the end my father opted to go for the 6 x monitor stand sold at scan : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/scanf...ming-eyefinity

And he went for 6 x Dell monitors that snootyjim recommended : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/215-d...gadp-usb-black

I think scan are sending them (and the new system my father got) around mid-July... Hopefully he will be happy !!!

    Thanks again for everyone's help!
