Just won an auction for a Dell u2713...

    Hi,

I just won an auction for a brand new Dell u2713.
I am yet to pay; I have until tomorrow night.

Now I asked the seller some questions and I received replies back very quickly, but when I asked how they manage to sell them for so cheap (£70-£80 off RRP) I didn't get a reply.

Anything I should be worried about?

Seller has 4 figure feedback with >99% positive and feedback for previous monitor sales has been good.

It's a second chance offer so have just under 1 day to pay

I'm most likely gonna accept but thought I'd ask incase I missed something.

You have Buyer protection through Paypal and can get your money back if things go wrong. It can take up to a month to get it, but your money is safe. Have you checked delivery charges? It isn't one of those where you pay £400 to get it sent from the States is it?

No, I don't think I've ever fallen for those
    Delivery is free using/via UPS.
It's actually on it's way now due for delivery today.

I'd love to know what you think of it when it arrives

I've been toying with the idea of moving up to it since it was announced but I wonder if it's likely to have the same quality as my 2412m..

Yeah, the next thing he knows is your ringing up his supplier trying to get in on the act.

As said above, more than likely gets bulk stock from another country, or possibly overstock.

Re: Just won an auction for a Dell u2713...

Ok, I got it all set up and I find dead pixel after dead pixel.
    MFR date was July 2012.

I found 7 dead pixels in total as well as severe backlight bleed in the bottom left corner AND a bright spot of around 15-20 pixels.
So I rang up Dell (transferred to India) around 20 mins ago & after going through my details and who I got it from, they said they'll be sending me out a brand new replacement between Monday & Wednesday.

I just hope it doesn't have any problems.

Dell also let me know that the eBay guy bought it directly from them just under 1 month ago.
He must just be buying in bulk.

On a plus note the anti-glare is so much better than on the u2711.

Ouch sorry to hear it - sounds like Dell saved your butt though and they do have a zero pixel warranty. Be interesting to see if the replacement is perfect (being directly from dell).

Sound ideal! Get a bargain price on it on ebay then switch out for a brand new one straight from Dell with no quibbles, good customer service that.

Looks like you've done well with that then, a dodgy screen being replaced under Dell's warranty. Who did you say you got this from?

Re: Just won an auction for a Dell u2713...

The eBay sellers name is 'b2day'.

He's got an 6 more auctions up for the u2713.
They seem to go for £480-£505 in auction.
    There's also 43 available for buy it now/best offer @ £500.

Will update thread again once the replacement arrives.

    Fingers crossed
