Question Advice on Getting a Monitor

Hi , i have been using the same monitor for years and atm im still using my old 19 inch LG Flatron L1915s
I usually buy my stuff from Scan since those guys are great and im currently using one of their 3xs pcs with GTX 460 few years back.

Atm the highest native resolution i can use is 1280 by 1024. So essentially i want to get a new monitor that wont cause me problems connecting to GTX460 without adapters etc and one that will let me take advantage of all the higher resolutions for gaming.

I dont want all the bells and whistles but i want a good minotor that will last me as long as the LG has which is an excellent monitor. Id prefer to buy from Scan unless there is significantly better deal elsewhere. I was looking at paying £150ish pounds or less.

I dont really understand hardware that well so could use some advice as having had a look at scan minotors i couldnt really tell difference between them apart from Screen size. I would appreciate any advice.
    Thanks.

What are the specifications of your PC?

I would look at this monitor:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/LG-IPS234V-P...5096683&sr=8-2

It uses a 6 bit IPS panel.

It was the 3XS i3 OC - Smart Edition GTX ,that was reviewed on hexus that i bought with 4 gig ram intel i3 530 cpu and gtx460 gfxcard
I dont really understand what a 6 bit ips panel means.

This was our review on it here on hexus which is why i bought it. I would prefer the monitor of scan if possible as their customer service is always great in case warranty or something like that comes up but i dont understand the tech specifications really.

Re: Advice on Getting a Monitor

There are others too,but that is the cheapest decent monitor, and the other similarly priced 23" IPS monitors use the same panel AFAIK.

    Edit!!

However, this is the best display for around £150 IMHO:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005MHMFJ...SIN=B005MHMFJA

It uses the same panel as the LG,but it has a better stand which is adjustable and it also has USB ports too.

Amazon does have good CS last time I checked. You can also use the free Amazon Prime trial too to get free next day postage too, and you can get Nectar points.

Re: Advice on Getting a Monitor

The ever so helpfull guys at scan suggested this : http://www.scan.co.uk/products/23-lg...cd-m-5m1-12-ms
    this seems like good value
2 things i wanted to ask is there much noticeabke difference with the dell considering its just for games and home use no proffessional photo or video
Also just how wobbly is that stand?
