New Monitor: LG vs. Samsung

I've spent the last couple of days researching monitors to replace my current 19".

The two that I have seen that really catch my eye are:

LG:

Now, I know the basic specifications for monitors, but I am somewhat clueless when it comes to the fine nitty-gritty details - but obviously I want the best for my money!


Which one would you go for and why?

Consider an IPS instead of a TN panel, gives better viewing angles and colour reproduction.

Understood! Thank you, I see the IPS option is a "clear" must have (sorry for pun..)

So as it stands, I am looking at the LG IPS234V-PN or the Samsung S23B300H which has Samsung's "Magic Angle".

I've read about LG monitors having a con in which they will dim over a certain prolonged time - has anyone encountered this problem?

Never heard of the dimming issue, I got my youngest the 22 inch version of the LG this Christmas, and the Iiyama above for my eldest last year. Both are superb screens.
