Advice for a new monitor please!

    Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a new monitor, there are a few requirements:

    - Must have an IPS Panel
    - 22" or 23"
    - Ideally have an audio passthrough or headphone out for the HDMI sound.

So far I've spotted the LG IPS237, the HP 22xi and the ASUS VS229HR.

Does anyone have any advice or recommendations? Thanks

Hi a popular 23" model is the Dell U2313HM - not sure if it has the audio pass through you need. I just got the U2412M and it is awesome!!
Also great 3 year warranty (zero always lit pixel and I think 3 dark pixels) - not aware of anyone else with such a warranty for relatviely budget monitors. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Ultrash.../dp/B005MHMFJA

If you're looking at IPS monitors then DELL are a good shout, while I have some of the older models, and it looks like they have different stands, one of my favourite things about them is the stand and general feel of the monitor.
    They feel really well made

Thanks guys, I'll have a look at the Dell series too, they just seem a little pricier.

Re: Advice for a new monitor please!

I've just seen the new S series monitors from Dell. They appear to have an IPS panel and an audio pass through. I'm looking at the S2340L specifically. Does anyone have any experience with the S series?

Re: Advice for a new monitor please!

You need to be careful with Dell and monitors they only test monitors by measuring the brightness of the monitor in the middle.
They don't test for hue changes, excessive back-bleed or anything. Common problem with the U2713HM, most of them are "faulty" due to poor quality control and poor manufacturing.
They are good for returns/replacements mind you so if something goes wrong its easily fixed.
There older monitors don't seem to have problems though which is odd....U2312HM seems to be popular though so maybe its escaped poor manufacturing.

Anyway, LG IPS234V-PN or Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM take your pick!

you will hear alot of good things on la internet about the lg ips234v range. I have the 23 inch and its awesome. for only barely over 100 notes its a bargain as well. Have not regretted it at all.
