    Question Hazro 30" vs Yamasaki 120hz 27"

The Hazro Wie model got a good review at TFT Central: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hazro_hz30wie.htm

Unfortunately only Hazro itself appears to sell it (at a not-inconsiderable £720 inc VAT) whereas my stockist of choice, Overclockers UK, recently changed the one they have on sale to the inferior (8bit panel) Wi f model (though they haven't reduced the price or changed the spec for some reason).

If the Wi e was still available at a decent price it'd be in contention with the Korean 'grey' import Yamasaki Catleap http://www.120hz.biz/yamakasi-catlea...2b-extreme-oc/ in my considerations.

Here are the pros and cons as I see them (just my opinion, others will have their own I know ):

Hazro Pros: 10 bit colour; no OSD or Scaler; only DVI-D port (of course some might construe these as cons but I prefer the lack of extras and their attendant effect on input lag). 3 year warranty. 16:10 aspect ratio.

Cons: Poor stand; AG treatment; relatively expensive.

Yamasaki Pros: 120hz possible; glossy screen; no OSD or scaler as per Hazro and only one DVI-D connection; relatively cheap (though they've rocketed up in price recently).

Cons: 1 year warranty (RTB!); no guarantee of 120hz; no guarantee against stuck pixels (unless you pay extra for the 'Pixel Perfect' model); A- quality panel; also have to consider VAT, customs duty and delivery; unknown brand; 16:9 aspect ratio.

The current available prices mean that the Catleap is a lot cheaper but OCUK have had 1 day offers in the past that brought the Hazro down to approximate parity (£500-550).

Main use would be games (esp. FPS) and films. Advice welcome, especially from owners of the above, cheers!

    Re: Hazro 30" vs Yamasaki 120hz 27"

My bad about the vote, clicked too fast.

In my work one of the designers got a pair of Harzo monitors and they look fab. Not sure how they hold up against FPS games and movies.

How about a Dell 27"+ screen? There is a wide range of choices and they are around the price of the Yamasaki (£500 to £600) and I think they would be a lot better suited for your activities.

3x different models available right now from Scan.co.uk :

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-de...h-4-port-usb-3

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/27-de...-8-in-1-reader

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/29-de...4-port-usb-hub

If you are happy for a plain FullHD monitor, I think you can do it even cheaper.

I'm coming from a 1920 x 1200 screen so would prefer to up the res a bit after several years with this HannsG model.

ATM, the Catleap is the only available IPS 120hz monitor at 2560x1440 I think...

    Re: Hazro 30" vs Yamasaki 120hz 27"

Yeah, it's not the greatest range of choice at the moment.

Personally, if I was going to get any of them, I'd be buying a Dell and making do without the 120Hz. You know they were £370-ish before Christmas?

But I'm going to hang on a bit until A) they're a bit cheaper and B) widely available in 120Hz. I hope I can wait. Or, even better, they'll be released in even higher resolutions/smaller packages.

    Re: Hazro 30" vs Yamasaki 120hz 27"

I just don't know why the monitor industry has stagnated so long (I know a lot of it is due to convergence with FullHD TV and thinking most customers are happy at that res). There's obviously demand out there proven by people willing to risk buying from eBay and small no-name brands in S.Korea. Where were the low-cost, higher res 120hz screens at CES? Did I miss them?

Cool Re: Hazro 30" vs Yamasaki 120hz 27"

Just in case anyone is interested, I went for the Catleap after all (the Hazro still too expensive, especially for the 8-bit panel).

Thumbs up Re: Hazro 30" vs Yamasaki 120hz 27"

Yes, just got it yesterday, was 2 days in transit from S. Korea, 1 day in the depot and then a delay for customs so 4 days in all from initial DHL despatch (shorter delay in fact than the wait from 'awaiting fulfilment' on 120hz.net to 'despatched').

Bear in mind that I'm coming from an old TN 1920x1200 HannsG monitor so a S-IPS with glossy screen was quite a revelation. Haven't watched any movies on it yet, but still pictures at native res are superb (of course that relies on original image quality, lens, processing etc too).

The stand is abysmal LOL but it does the job.

There is one stuck pixel that I notice on full single colour screens (ie black loading screens and Windows boot).

I'm running it at 100hz atm on an AMD 7950. Tried a few games (mostly Source i.e. HL2 based) and it's great with that (old) engine. Far Cry 3 also looks lush. Doesn't appear to have much in the way of input lag either.

Found that Gpu temp is pushed up by 10 to 15 celcius on desktop but I guess that's the compromise you make...
