Ah, my room is kind of small, but this monitor doesn't seem to heat up that much. Definitely keep an eye on it though

And it may be the texture. Not sure. In University today I thought I'd check it out on another monitor, a Dell Professional series monitor, good quality, but on closer look it has the same pattern.

The pattern isn't as smooth as when you touch the screen, not a warped ripple effect, it's like a very faint layer on top of everything, not a consistent pattern throughout, like tree roots but very thin and close together.

The only other way I can describe it is like millions of purple-ish dots, unbelievably faint but swirly.

I have just realised all the amount of adjectives I have used

Could be the texture, but why would a texture looks this... odd? It does look like all the individual pixels are using different shades of white
