    Multi monitor recommendations needed please

    Hi all

I currently have a desktop PC connected to a Dell 24" IPS display. Its about 5 years old. A few scratches on the screen but nothing major.

I'm looking at buy two to go either side or just buy three identical screens.

I would quite like IPS displays as I like photography.

Looking at spending Max 130 per screen depending how many I get. Whether it's two or three.

I was looking at the LG IPS234V but I'm really not sure.

Any recommendations or comments would be appreciated.

    Mark.

I have the LG one and its excellent - one big plus, at least for me, with choosing dell would be the monitor stand. But if you are planning on getting multiple monitors it might be cost effective to actually get 3 of those LG monitors and a triple stand (this lg has VESA mount enabled unlike many comparable monitors) like this one - http://www.scan.co.uk/products/scanf...and-scalable!-

    good luck !

Thanks for your reply. I think the LG is the way to go.

Maybe I buy three but I think the purchase of the stand will have to wait. But I will get one.

Or I buy two. Sell my dell then get another one.

When you get the LG, you'll definitely know how great dell's actually are.. in fact, maybe get one from amazon first to see how you like it then return if not. Because I'm telling you, monitor stand should be a big consideration and the LG is far from great.

Re: Multi monitor recommendations needed please

The biggest issue with trying to pair new monitors to your old Dell is that the Dell is 1920x1200, most new monitors are 1920x1080, due to the distressing rise in popularity of 16:9 ratio screens.

If you're just planning on using them as three independent displays I don't think it'll make too much difference, but if you want to use them as a single large surface then you'll need screens with the same vertical resolution...

I could live with the flimsy stand for the time being if I bought the LG as I would get a triple monitor mount eventually. So that's not a big deal. I would be more worried if the LG screen wasn't the best or had known issues.

My thoughts exactly. However, I only see it being a problem if I want an eyefinity set up for gaming.

I'm a developer so I just want more real estate for Visual Studio, Sql Server Management Studio and my browser really! I only have a 660Gtx so one monitor gaming is probably preferred even though I could run some games in eyefinity mode...

Yeah, if it's for productivity it's not an issue. Personally I'd keep the Dell, and get one of the LGs (or something similar), so you can do a side-by-side comparison. Then you'll know whether a) the LG is up to standard, and b) whether having mismatching monitors will drive you batty

Or I could buy a dell u2412m. Although they seems to be on long wait times at Amazon and dell. Possible end of line....

Hmm I've just found PcBuyIt.co.uk who have a pixel perfect guarantee with all Dell monitors and their prices are pretty decent too.

Now I'm thinking about 2 x U2312HM's then another one at a later date.... thoughts?

Re: Multi monitor recommendations needed please

I have an existing Alienware AW2310 and I wanted to pair it with two other monitors either side. Initially I was looking at the AOC and the LG IPS monitors but then came across the new IPS panelled Acer H236HL monitor. I really liked the look of this and it also has a slim bezel which was a key consideration. Al ittle over budget but they can be picked for about £148 from Scan's Today Only page. Here is an unboxing video:

and here is a (poor quality) photo of them either side of my Alienware

I wish I had the space for a 3rd monitor.

War Thunder is screaming out to be run on 3 screens.

    Both set-ups look nice.
