I am building a new PC for gaming, and I am wondering if I should get a new monitor to go with it. I currently have a 60Hz monitor, and I am just wondering if it is worth buying a 120Hz monitor, and if it will improve anything.

Depends on what you use your system for. I think 120Hz makes a massive difference as I play a lot of fast games at high FPS. Fro desktop use though, windows are smoother, but it's probably not worth the premium.
Agree with Agent, it depends entirely on what sort of frames you will be pulling, if you're only getting 50-70 fps you won't see the benefit of 120Hz.
On the other hand if you're playing a game where you are turning quickly a lot, you may miss people on your peripheral vision due to missing frames (60Hz) I guess it's entirely preference, I'd say go for it if you're going serious on gaming.
120hz is the best upgrade ive ever done......you won't be disappointed. :)
Also it depends if you have the GPU to power a 120hz or 144hz monitor to appreciate it's benefit.
120hz is good, especially for online gaming. Its definitely more responsive, however you don't really need for single player games imo.
Remember, for AAA titles (BF4, Crysis 3 etc) you will be needing a Crossfire/Sli GPU build to play 1080p 120hz. For other games, anything above 7970/GTX 770 should be ok.
7950 crossfire is the best bang for the buck at the moment, you can get both for as low as £322
120Hz means getting a TN panel which means comparatively poor colours and poor viewing angles. You'll see a benefit if you're gaming on the monitor but it won't suit some other purposes
I say this with a TN panel and a IPS screen right in front of me - Unless you're doing some very specific image editing or viewing your screen in some silly way, it's just not something that's going to have an impact on your average home user.
TN panels, certainly the higher end ones are quite good now. People have been repeating the same advice since the first revisions of TN, and while it's technically still correct, people ignore the advancements that's happened since then. While I am an IPS person at heart, TN are certainly not bad now.
As Agent said, it's completely dependent on your intended use/priorities.
TN panels are improving when it comes to colours etc, sure they're still not quite there with IPS, but I don't think it's the massive issue it used to be.
