    Which Monitor?

    Hi All,

My (very) old monitor finally packed up, and I need a new one. I would like a 24" screen if possible (but not too fussed an inch or 2 either way), that will be mainly used for gaming, both my PC and Xbox. Budget is around the £200 mark, but again is slightly (+£50) flexible if the right deal is about. Don't have a clue about monitors, so any help would be much appreciated.

    Many thanks for any help!

    Re: Which Monitor?

I've got an Acer S240HLbid full HD widescreen LED which cost around £128

Can't rate it enough, especially for the price. Cant post URL's due to post count!

    LG IPS panels are good.

The 23EA63V 23inch seems to have good reviews and can be had for 117GBP.

    Re: Which Monitor?

How about a nice Dell UltraSharp U2312HM? Dell U2312HM from £155

Either go for free shipping from Scan.co.uk or a website with cash-back, like CCL.co.uk, eBuyer.com or Novatech.co.uk.

    Re: Which Monitor?

Thanks Guys, it seems that the Dell's are the way to go, especially based on the 'Bang for Buck' you seem to get from them.

Another quick question - Would it make much of a difference whether the Monitor has a HDMI port, given I'm using the Xbox with the screen, or would using an adaptor not impact the quality at all?

    Re: Which Monitor?

Dell Ultrasharp, am running 2 of the older U2311.s and these are fine for gaming and editing, the zero dead pixel Dell waranty was a factor in the choice. the U2412 M witha zero pixel defect warranty should do just fine.

However, if you want the fastest pixel response then you should look at TN Film panels as they get down to the 1 ms mark, and the 120 Hz refresh screens are TN also.

Agreed, the Dell's are very good. Having said that, I just got a 3D monitor to use with my Nvidia card. Makes things a bit more interesting.

How is that going for you? I used to have a 3D monitor and is sacrificed colour accuracy and sharpness in pixel response to reach the 120Hz. Be lovely if they've improved the tech.

I hate 3d gaming but the 120Hz in 2D was lovely. Even just for work
