Decent monitor under £170
As the title would suggest, I'm on a budget for a single monitor under £150. I'm looking for ones which are around 24". Small bezels are a plus.
The monitors which I have shortlisted:
ASUS VE247H 24 inch - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B004T2LMP2
Asus VS239HR 23 inch - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B008J77QQM
*Acer S240HLbid 24'' - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005QVZ79C
BenQ GL2450HM 24 inch - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B005OPLG0O
Asus VN247H 24" - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showpr...-050-AS&tool=3
*I am very tempted to get the Acer as it is a decent price and has had good reviews.
However is it better to pay the extra price and get an IPS monitor?
Thanks for your help in advance,
Regards

Re: Decent monitor under £170
I'm doing a lot of research into this also, I have most of those monitors bookmarked from research apart from the Asus VS239 (I have the VS247H-P bookmarked), from what I can tell all those Asus models are near identical just slightly different connections at the back. I've heard decent things about the BenQ monitor it used to be the Official MLG Tournament monitor, though I'd take that with a pinch of salt.
A monitor I'm currently giving a lot of consideration is the LG 24EA53VQ, it was used at Gamescom 2013 (from the best of my research) to show off BF4, which in my opinion is one of the best benchmarks for a monitor, no one seemed to struggle to see people, didn't see any signs of ghosting (or anyone complaining about it) and it seems to have a good response time, also IPS so you know the colour reproduction will be great.
Re: Decent monitor under £170
Late response on this one so hope it's still helpful:
I recently got the ASUS VN247H 24 inch 2nd hand, was in mint condition and managed to get it for £60! So far have been hugely impressed personally speakers are as you'd expect but honestly I only have them because it runs off a N40L without a sound card so the sound comes via my HD7750. Image-wise I haven't put it through it's paces much but played a couple of games of UT'99 on it, no lag/ghosting. I'm not a massive colour freak but it looks pretty good to me.
Re: Decent monitor under £170
Just bought my youngest son a 24" Samsung S24C300H 2 weeks ago and its great, i did originally buy an acer but when i connected it up it was just a black screen?
Re: Decent monitor under £170
IF you can stretch to about 200 odd, have a look at the korean panels on eBay. Qnix is awesome my bro has one 27" at 2560*1440 !
Re: Decent monitor under £170
not a 24" screen but if you're happy with 23" you can always get the dell u2312h as those ultrasharps are solid monitors for the price, lovely stands and brilliant displays :).
In the 24" range at that budget I dont really have any suggestions, the Korean ones are hit and miss so if you have good luck you can score yourself a bargain but on the flip side of that you can end up with a pretty naff display :(.
Re: Decent monitor under £170
Although TN panels have improved, IPS is still miles ahead for colour reproduction. TN is more responsive though but not everyone can notice - I cant.
Have to agree with Hicks though that the 23" Dell is a pretty damn good monitor, miles ahead of the cheap 24" screens
Re: Decent monitor under £170
Just make sure you have a decent graphics card if you were to buy one of these!

+1.......these panels are amazing.
Re: Decent monitor under £170
LG 23 inch IPS and you're sorted. You could, as other people have said get a 1440p monitor from eBay, but you'd need to make sure you can run the games ;P
