Poor Connection Options?

I am looking for a new monitor to replace my 5 year old Samsung SyncMaster 2032BW which has VGA and DVI

Only ever used VGA port twice in 5 years and my graphics card at the moment (GTX 560 ti) has DVI and HDMI out puts, with the HDMI going to the main TV to play movies or games on 40"

Looking at the monitor range £250 for a high end 24 or cheaper 27" and I find the input options are limited, Like here is a VGA and a HDMI. -_- Yes I know I can convert the DVI from my PC to HDMI but it is another expense.

I should say I am looking at Samsung, Asus and Phillips as they are trusted names with me.

Liking things to be as future proof as they can be, am I being blind or are there good monitors out there busting with ports?

Consider getting IPS displays, they're a bit costly, but as you said, high end.

IPS displays offer great color quality and better viewing angles than conventional LED/LCD displays. Asus offers one, I think LG too has one.

And these new displays in the market have a variety of connection ports than older models so it would be as future proof as it gets.

IPS panels are conventional LCD displays. Yes they are better for colour accuracy and viewing angles compared to TN panels.

If you feel like going for it then go for it. By the way, is there any reason why you're going for a 27-inch 1920x1080 panel? At that size there are 2560x1440 displays out there, but of course, it's really expensive.

Maybe my age and my eyes are starting to go but do not see much difference in extra pixels, I fancy 27" over 24" as I do more gaming and like to sit back on the sofa.

That is impressive, even spotted a S-Video and composite video.

Yes I know I can convert the DVI from my PC to HDMI but it is another expense.

Surely its just a £3 cable off amazon or ebay?
