Absolutely. In fact this is probably the ideal use of g-sync, where even high end cards may well struggle to deliver a consistent 60 FPS at 4k resolutions currently. As long as the frame rate stays above 30 it should minimise the visual impact of temporary drops in the frame rate into the 40's or so.
Yeah, but so is the Acer 4k2k G-Sync monitor, it launches 5th September, and hopefully by then we will know more about the Display Port 1.2a standards besides anything could happen over the next seven weeks.
If by the time the Acer launches I still don't have the answers I'm looking for then I will most likely get the Acer, but I won't be pre-ordering until closer to the time this time around.
I'm willing to spend up to £800 on a screen, if it's the right screen, so if a 4k 28" IPS that's suitable for gaming comes out between now and then I would consider it, I'll be looking for G-Sync/FreeSync/Active Sync features though.
