Its only really any good if you do watch an extortionate amount of movies. For a higher than 1080p res, then just use 1440p until 4K drops in price and GPUs can handle it. As for the aspect ratio, while being nice to look at, it's impractical as most applications aren't set up to support that resolution, and so would appear stretched.

I don't know about the AOC, but the dell has a mode which causes 1080p apps to just run with black bars. I tend to use that one over any scaling or stretching.

Your apps shouldn't ever appear stretched when running at the native resolution of the desktop. If you're talking about full screen games that can't support the native res, that's a bit different.
