Layers of packaging around an item (with the light green being the box it comes in)?
EDIT: Or, seeing as where this is posted, light green is the amount of whitespace now present on certain sites while others define the space taken up by content?
I'm going to go with another screen aspect ratio representation as my answer.
I've also seen it shown the way they have it here.
Cinematic aspect ratios, or screen sizes? It looks like 1.33:1, 1.66:1, 1.85:1, 2.39:1 and IMAX could all be represented?
I was going to have a stab at Picasso or Mondrian
Ah, Zakky, you almost had me foxed with that yellow box, then I had a moment of inspiration while dropping off last night.
Taking it from the obvious one, the smallest box (what colour is that? Spinach?) is clearly 5:4 ratio. Since we're in the monitors forum and there's only one common monitor format that's 5:4 ratio, that kind of has to be 1280x1024.
The instinct then is to assume that the next box up (yellow) is 1920x1080 - but the yellow box is the same ratio as large green box: 16:10. The next obvious candidate would be 1920x1200, but then the other boxes wouldn't make sense - pink and blue are both 16:9 and there aren't two common 16:9 sizes that are taller than 1920x1200! I'll come back to yellow.
Pick and blue would make sense as 16:9 boxes if pink was 1920x1080 and blue was 2560x1440 - this would make beige 2560x1080 for a 21:9 ratio. That makes sense. So for yellow I'd need a screen size in 16:10 ratio with a vertical pixel count between 1024 and 1080. I puzzled over that one for a while but it finally hit - 1680x1050.
That gives me everything but the green box. It's also 16:10 ratio, so I'd assumed last night that it would end up being 3840x2400, but on closer inspection this morning it seems that the total image is twice the height of the pink box. That'd make green 3456x2160, not a resolution I'm familiar with.
Based on the other resolutions though, I was wondering if it was the resolution progression of a brand of monitor or perhaps even laptop - MacBook/imac/something similar?
I know what this is... This is an espresso machine.
No, no wait. It's a snow cone maker!!
.....a water heater?
it looks like the wallpaper we saw in a bedroom recently while househunting!
