Bug in my monitor!!!!!!

Literally - I have a bug *in* my monitor.

It's one of those Thunderbugs, or whatever they're called. Little black insecty thing about the size of the comma here -> ,
It was crawling around slowly earlier, but I think it's dead now and it's stuck almost right in the middle of the screen...

Anyone know how to get rid of these things?
It's inside an Iiyama ProLite E2773HS, if that helps?

+1. Had one die in my main monitor last week. NOT happy!

I have read that finding a small suction cup, placing it on the screen above the bug and gently pulling whilst tapping the screen might help you move the bug down the screen until it drops in to the bottom. Not tried it yet myself though.

You mean Thrips (As known as thunderflies, thunderbugs, storm flies, thunderblights, storm bugs, corn flies and corn lice). Those things do get everywhere, we used to get loads, but not in years. Normally, I'd say ignore it, but sounds like it really picked it's spot.

Like laptops, assembly is fairly standard, minimal screws, plenty latches. But only do it yourself if you're confident about it - especially since I can't see a tutorial for that model so you'd be improvising to some degree.

You could of course try leaving it there, it may drop to the bottom of the screen on it's own. They often vanished on their own.

Do not squash the screen! Wait for it to die (usually right in the most awkward place), dry out, and then hopefully fall to the bottom - flexing/suction cuping the screen might help.

While they are still alive I hear you can turn the display off and put a desk lamp over the grills at the top, so the bug heads towards the light and out of the monitor. Just in case it happens again.

don't push a suction cup on where the bug is, use a lube like Vaseline or silicon spray to allow you to slide the cup into position then pull and tap.

Personally I would strip it down.

I may see about stripping it down... Not done it before, although I've disassembled a fair amount of stuff in general.

Thunder-flies on the inside of monitors are so annoying. I've had several before

I've had several in my monitor this year too. First time ever.

Thankfully they were wondering around. I switched it off and left a LED light under it hoping they would go towards it for a couple of days. No idea where they actually went, but they're no longer under the screen bit
