    Benq BL3200PT monitor

I have been offered one of these at a good price, has anyone on here had any experience with one of these monitors.

I know it is a VA screen but it offers a 10 bit panel with 1.07 billion colour support, although I just need it to fully support sRGB.

I don't know how well it would perform in a gaming environment, for games such as BF4, Elite: Dangerous, Gauntlet, driving games and Solitaire (just kidding about the Solitaire) so some useful feedback on this aspect would be helpful.

    Thanks.

    Re: Benq BL3200PT monitor

I've been dragging my heals on what monitor to buy for the best part of 12 months maybe even longer and haven't come to a decision. Whilst on the brink of ordering a Yamakasi 30" 2560x1600 model I came across a review of the 32" Benq. In the end I have decided that I would be better off getting a 'known' brand from a UK supplier in case I have any issues and having decided I have finally placed an order today.

    I hope I haven't made a mistake!

Has anyone got a Benq BL3200PT from a UK supplier that doesn't have any banding or flashing issues?

    Re: Benq BL3200PT monitor

I ended up returning my BL3200PT as I couldn't even get smooth playback on the end credits of films, the scrolling was jerky and it was absolutely terrible in games. I thought it was meant to be a 4ms response rate but my old LG at 8ms was much better. I have an Asus ROG Swift PG278Q now which is much better for video and gaming but doesn't offer the same colour reproduction of course.

    Re: Benq BL3200PT monitor

Didn't think that was to do with response times but rather the refresh rate. Response time is how long it takes to display the signal sent from the PC (or so I thought). Sounds like a refresh rate issue. I think it might be the monitor where you have to set it from DisplayPort 1.1 to 1.2 in the settings.

Oh, well it's a bit late to check that now, I thought it would automatically go straight to DP1.2 if the GPU supports that. How would I check this?

Check out linus' video on it on YouTube. I'm sure he covers gaming on it.

I was just having a look at the video here, it's one I have seen before but somehow missed what I spotted just now. Fast forward to 05:00 on the video and watch the bit with the boat on the screen, and again when he does the side by side comparison with a 27" 2560x1440 Asus panel at 06:30ish. Even on what initially looks like fairly smooth playback of the Unigine benchmark software, I was spotting what looks like stuttering in the clouds. This is what I was getting with any form of on screen motion and it would give me an intense headache after a few minutes of use which is why I sent it back.

    Re: Benq BL3200PT monitor

I couldn't notice any stuttering in the video - but maybe that's because I'm on my phone. If I remember correctly, you have a 780 Ti, which is, as you know, more than capable than pushing those pixels. Might possibly have been a faulty monitor, or maybe even a bad driver for the graphics card?

How's G-Sync by the way? I'm very tempted to get a monitor with it enabled, but can't bring myself to spend that much, when I could get a 970 and have money left over...

I think in balance the 970 and money left is a better way to go right now. After getting the BenQ and sending it back I was without a monitor and didn't have the luxury of asking for my old monitor back once it had been given. If it wasn't for that I would have done things differently.

I didn't really get a lot of tearing at 1080p if any at all, I guess I'll have to experiment playing with G-Sync off and on to see which seems better, right now it is on all of the time but without trying to play games with it off I don't really have a very good basis for comparison.

    Re: Benq BL3200PT monitor

Problem is, I now have an XBOX One, and it looks weird on a 1440p monitor. Battlefield 4 just gives me a headache after a while, and hurts my eyes where it's so unclear and blurry. Looks fine on a 1080p monitor.

I'm tempted to get a big 1080p monitor for gaming (no room for a TV) as 1080p still looks sharp, but is less demanding on my 760. Far Cry 4, for example, will get me 40 ish FPS on medium settings, if I remember correctly. If games are heading in that direction, I won't have the money to game at 1440p.

    Re: Benq BL3200PT monitor

Is the blurry video a result of playing BF4 with your XBOne at 1440p? I thought it should look ok at 1080p on a 1440p monitor, I don't have that issue when I play games on my PC at 1080p, but that may be because my GPU scales better but I don't know for sure.

    Re: Benq BL3200PT monitor

Well that's the thing - games look fine on my PC, and so does Forza 5, but all the other games have a bluryness to them on edges of shapes, and in some cases (like bf4) general bluryness, to the point where it looks like it's running on a 360 at 720p. Could just be the poor optimisations?
