Dell 4K monitors, good, ok or rubbish, is there better?

Hi,

Very long story short, I bought a Dell P2414Q monitor and added that to my array of 1080p's (1080p, 4k, 1080p) the scaling options in Windows 10 at that time were horrific but I just dealt with it. I then bought a second P2414Q. Windows 10 updates came, scaling got better, but then I started to get the issue where once the screens have gone to sleep, sometimes waking them up doesn't work. The LEDs on the monitor strobe in and out, only way to recover is to power off/on the PC, then all is fine. If I disable DP 1.2, drops to 4k@30Hz, perfect, never crashes, no issues, apart from its 30Hz.

I then acquired a newer P2415Q, (P2414Q, P2415Q, P2414Q and a single 1080p above) this is always at 60Hz and doesn't have the DP 1.2 setting, I'm guessing its always 1.2. However if I run the P2414Q's at DP 1.2 I always get the dead monitor thing on wake up. I've been running the P2414Q's at 30Hz for some time now, but then due to different refreshes I get the horrific mouse lag on the 30Hz screens.

Ok, moan/rant over, if anyone knows how to fix that, I'll be super happy. However I've come to the decision that these must be crap monitors? Question is, is this at all common with 4k/Windows10/nVidia setups? I have a nVidia GTX980 which drives all 4 screens ok.

1. This happens if only 1 P2414Q is attached @ 60Hz
2. Are Dell 4ks known to be crap (software/firmware)
3. Is there better 4k monitors out there that won't give me this much grief
4. Could it be a GTX980 issue, would a GTX 1080Ti be better handling this (Reason I ask this is I have read a few places that the monitor loss is a Secure Handshake issue with the GFX)

Any help/advice would be helpful.

Probably just an early adopter issue if the 2015 model doesn't suffer similarly.

Unfortunately your integrated graphics are the last generation that wasn't able to do 3840x2160@60hz so you can't test it with that.

pgudge, I see you're in South Yorkshire, I'm based 5 minutes off J31 of the M1 (Aston / Swallownest area) and have a spare 7870 laying around which you're more than welcome to borrow for testing, or otherwise keep for £30.
