New Monitor for Laptop and Desktop

Hi, I have a laptop (Dell XPS 9560) with a 4K screen and I would like to get an external monitor for it so that i can work on a 28-32" screen at home rather than the 15" screen on the laptop. I would like the external monitor to be a 4K screen as well but see 100's on the market so am not sure where to start, there are so few reviews. This Iiyama looks good.

Also I would consider an ultra-wide and potentially curved screen as well as i think these are really cool.

I will use the monitor for working from home and will plug an old gaming rig into it as well for the odd game. I might update this to a newer spec and therefore play new games as well.

Budget for the right screen could go up to around £600 but would rather spend less if a I can.

    Any advice is welcome.

Not curved, but ASUS PB27UQ and Samsung U28E850R have nice specs.

Something to bear in mind is that if it's a old gaming rig it won't be able to do 4K gaming and you'll have to drop it down to 1080 which will scale perfectly. The problem being that the pixels will be pretty big and so it may look pretty meh. If you're not fussed and gaming is a secondary concern then fine but I'd consider how far you're going to be from the screen. If you're going to be up close, it'll likely look awful.

15" 4K - wow, that's insane. That must be like high end mobile phone levels of sharpness!

Sorry, I don't have any specific models to contribute, just the caution above.
