I think I just electrocuted my monitor *cries*

I've been having some weird crashes of DWM.exe recently, and really struggled to diagnose what was happening.

I've also been having some pretty noticeable static electric shocks from my office chair.

Today, with my chair in the middle of the room, I walked in and touched it and felt a massive zap through my finger.

My monitor (ROG Swift PG278Q) then flashed and doesn't seem to output any more. I've tested another monitor and that works fine (using it right now).

Have I just killed it?

Anything's possible - there should be enough grounding that you don't fry anything but video inputs can be vulnerable. Try turning it all off and on again, and then try different input source if you can (eg displayport rather than HDMI).

Yeah I've just started taking things apart, and I think the earth pin was non-functional - one of the perils of not buying from new I suppose. Not saying that's definitely the cause, but it can't exactly have helped.

Will try hooking up the monitor again once I've got the pin sorted.

could be the monitor fuse. It has its own one separate to the power cable one. They're not intended to be user-serviceable but repair centres can do it, as can people who know what they're doing with electronics.

It was still powering up (at least the power LED was), just not showing anything on the screen, so assuming that a blown fuse would prevent any power flow at all?

yeah there is that. Depends where the power LED sits in the chain, but it is possible you've nuked the inverter thing that drives the whole screen. Happened to my wife once. Dodgy wiring in a flat and kaboom. Goodbye monitor.
