Good luck !
£390 monitor apparently, cant see you getting it for £280, bloody good deal if you can, my existing monitor is a Dell one they do make decent screens.
I'm looking at the iiyama G-Master GB2760QSU-B1 next, 144Hz, Free sync, 2560x1440, £270 from Amazon currently, will stick a price tracker on it and see if any deals come up, 27" was a bit bigger than I wanted to go as on 24" currently but whats an extra few inches eh![]()
It's not a random price I've plucked out of thin air tho - this is the price people over at HotUkDeals have been getting by engaging a CSR on the website. Literally just "I'd like a discount on the xxxx" "Sure, how does £280 sound? OK, I'll send you an invoice by email with a link to pay."
And there are a *lot* of people who have already done this - the caveat being that they are all waiting until ~Feb 2021 for new stock to arrive, giving Dell plenty of time to cancel all the orders if they decide it's a "mistake".
Temping, let me know how you get on lol
Tried 3 times this afternoon and all of them flatly denied it had ever been sold at £280. Two of them quoted me a higher price than the website price, lol.
Then they closed their chat support 1.5 hours before the official closing time on the website ("Sun 8am to 5pm" - it's now 15:20). So I couldn't make any further attempt.
OK in total I tried 11 times, mostly getting different advisors.
A couple admitted that it was available until "a few days ago" but that the deal had been a "mistake" and was not returning.
The website price is £400 "down from £480" (lol).
I will not be buying one. Will wait for the AUO panels instead. Also I will not be buying Dell again. They told me not to use chat again, lol, as I was being a nuisance by repeatedly asking for the deal.
I had been hoping to get something for about £300, but it seems that is an "entry level" price these days.
I.e. you will still get really bad backlight bleed, low contrast, etc, at this price range.
Seems you need to spend £500+ to get something of real quality. I really do need to upgrade tho, 1080/60 is just horrid.
Back to the drawing board..
It's an option, but only if I learn to abandon my fear of spending money.
It's a fairly large step up in terms of GPU requirements, not to mention the monitor cost itself. Let's say you'd probably need a £600 GPU to drive that, eh?
Out of curiosity what 3440x1440 screen do you have? And was it your first ultrawide? And would you go back to non-UW?
I just picked up one of these: https://www.ebuyer.com/838555-eg-27-...eesync-gs27-v2
Looks good on paper, TN panel tho, I'm not that bothered about that tbh, works with G-sync too apparently
It should be here tomorrow!
