HDMI or DP to USB-C(TB) Cable??

    Hey all,

I was sure I asked this question earlier this year but can't find the thread.

I'm moving house and planning to double up my work monitor - LG 4K Ultrafine for Mac - for my own gaming purposes. The monitor has USB-C inputs only, and naturally my GPU is HDMI/DP output only.

I believe it is this model - https://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-27...d-led-monitor#

There are a lot of cables online but only seem to be one-way USB->DP/HDMI rather than the other way around!

If they exist, has anyone used a DP/HDMI to USB-C/TB cable before, could you hit 4K/60 and recommend it if so?

    Thanks.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: HDMI or DP to USB-C(TB) Cable??

    Er that's a 5K monitor not 4K

And yes I was using the a LG 5K Ultrafine monitor till I sold it recently, however I was doing it via a Gigabyte Titan Ridge card installed in my PC (it was also a Ryzentosh) so couldn't comment on whether going direclty from the GPU to monitor via a DP to USB-C would work. Mine used Thunderbolt 3 from the PC via the Gigabyte card to the 5K monitor which are also TB3 ports but will also accept USB-C. What I can tell you is that you definitely wont get 5K resolution, if it does work I think you'll only get 4K max due to bandwidth restrictions.
