That depends Smokey, I would have enough money to have both except I have to pay a mortgage, go on holiday, maintain a decent car and socialise which sadly cuts in. I'm not saying you don't have those things but I simply can't justify spending money on both systems on a regular basis.

Don't worry I am keeping the PC for internet useage and photo editing and resignation letters (coming soon to a business near you!), stuff like that.

And when you talk to people its amazing how many have Xbox 360 and the online service looks great and so easy.

Online FPS's and RTS - if you like these it's the PC ftw.

TBH though you don't need a C2D and 8800 to play this gen of games at the same standard as an Xbox360.

Biggest problem I have with PC's is that I want to put the settings up to the max on games, which reminds you that there is better hardware out there. If you are happy with Xbox360 resolution (approx equivalent to 1280x1024 on a 4:3 monitor) then you should be fine with a mid range gfx upgrade for £150.

Of course if you buy an Xbox360 and realise you miss your PC games, you won't lose too much money on it by selling it second hand.

I'd definately go for xbox 360, get yourself a good hi-def screen and a dolby digital speaker system, xbox live gold with a headset and a couple of good games like GOW, COD3, and Battlefield 2, then you'll be in gamer heaven. It's just so much more satisfying then sitting on your desk with a PC in front of you. I find the only game genre now which is better on the PC is strategy games, but you don't need an amazing games rig to play them anyway.

The midrange card I've just bought cost £115 inc from SCAN. Noticed that on a lot of the reviews most sites were singing its praises hence why I went over to ATI. Not to bad at all considering the price I have paid for it. I'm happy to run my games in 1024x768 resolution. It means you can notch up the eye candy and make it look gorgeous.

One I am really chuffed about is Gothic 3, with my previous setup I couldn't run it due to the bugs and my system, however with my new setup it is running great.

I do agree with the lack of hassle with the consoles in general, stick the disc in and away you go. Unlike PC games and mentioned if you want it to be running in mega high detail and resolution then you do need top of the range everything which is very costly.

It all depends on what you want to be playing. For me personally I love the RPG's as of late and granted Oblivion came out on the 360. Unfortunately you will most likely never see Neverwinter Nights series and games like it on the consoles.

i'm confused by this statement. the xbox 360 supports a range of resolutions from 720x576, through to 1920x1080

Well my LCD 37" screen does 1366 x 768 and does 720p so i'll be perfectly happy with the graphics I think. For a start the Wii looks great at 480p so it can only look better especially with the better graphics on it!

I can hear Forza 2 and Gear of War now....vrooooom!

I love my 360 and my pc. I thought i could go 360 only but i have found myself upgrading the pc again.

I love Gears, Viva Pinata and COD3 (and many more) and im looking forward to titles like Forza 2, Resident Evil 5, Assasins Creed and GTA amongst others.

Games like Unreal 2007 and strategy games in general are more suited to pc though in my opinion.

The way I see it is that the pc is a tool the I also use for gaming (mostly fps), whereas the 360 (and other consoles) is purely entertainment.

When i get back home from a night out with the lads, the 360 is a great way for us all to unwind (if were feeling flush, we'll gamble on who kills who first, or on anything really). The pc ain't so social.

Plus, it's a cheaper way to get HD (with the addon drive).

at this moment in time i would ditch the pc gaming for one of the next gen consoles. the reason is that there are a lot more AA titles that are out or coming out on the consoles with only crysis being the only exclusive title coming out on the pc.

i still have a 32bit p4 northwood processor with a agp card of 7800gs+ 512mb edition and that still keeps me going. I admit, the only reason why i would build a new pc is not for gaming but for media stuff like transcoding/encoding media files alot quicker than my pc can and overal just to have very fast pc.

imo get a console now and upgrade sometime next year when quad cores become the norm like how dual cores are atm

dont do it, PCs will always outstrip consoles and will alwyas have the better titles

you cant experience crysis, ut2k7, supreme commander with a gamepad, nor can you get gfx as good as a pc

I think he means that you can't experience these games on a gamepad, as opposed to with a keyboard on mouse on a PC.

PCs plural, yes. But one PC.. no - you have to keep changing it to do better than consoles, annoyingly.

it's a silly argument. anyone could just as easily list a number of games that can't be experienced on a keyboard & mouse on a pc as opposed to a gamepad

To the OP. I did just what you are asking last year.

For years I've been a PC gamer, upgrading to the latest equipment every 6 months (as I was in my late teens during this time I had no financial commitments).

But last year I started saving for my own property and since then found it a waste of money to upgrade my PC and so bought a 360 (and very recently bought a TV to match) and have not looked back. I absolutley love it! Though my commitments to online games have slipped as of late you just can't beat a good GoW frag fest.

If you buy 10 games a year, the price difference between PC and XBox360 games will pay for your upgrades. You dont need to spend £300 0n a graphics card, £150 on a MOBO, etc to play the latest game at high settings.

Personally I play a PC due to the type of games I like only being on PC. I might get a 360 in a year or so, mainly for the media player side, but also for playing games when mates are around.
