    Supreme Commander PerfTest

Supreme Commander retail has a built in benchmarking test as mentioned here . To enable it start up the game with "/map PerfTest" after the command line (eg create a shortcut to supremecommander.exe and add /map PerfTest after the " " section in the target.)

The lower the score the better. You can also find min/max/average FPS in the log file it produces after running.

From the the looks of that thread, resolution seems to be a big factor in performance (obviously) as are the in game settings. Running without sound also gives a huge boost, and the problems various people have mentioned seem to indicate they have some problems in that area codewise.

EDIT: for comparison purposes I propose running at 1024x768, 'high fidelity preset' (sets up AA, texture etc.for you) and with the /nosound flag which disables sound, though obviously feel free to include other runs

Nice one, it's playing havok with my PC. I'll turn off the sound for starters.

What in game settings/resolution? - I get under 2 with 'low' settings It goes off your normal game settings. (edit: and fill in your 'my system' so we can see it I don't see signatures if it's there )

edit2: with proposed settings (1024x768, high fidelity preset, nosound flag) I get:

    perftest: 46.7
    fps: min[ 5.04] max[ 68.77] avg[ 29.707]

With my current settings 1440x900, low fidelity I get: -
    perftest: 69.0
    fps: min[ 5.43] max[ 30.77] avg[ 19.373]

    1024x768, low fidelity, no sound
    perftest: 40.5
    fps: min[ 10.06] max[ 54.21] avg[ 28.688]

Definately an excuse to upgrade some time soon, especially with dual monitors
Interesting to watch. I believe it's the same battle that is fought in the background on the menus.

    EDIT:
    1024x768, high fidelity, no sound
    perftest: 114.2
    fps: min[ 4.42] max[ 20.69] avg[ 12.049]

The slide show looked very pretty Interesting to see the battle finished differently. Both times before, the Monkeylords all died and the Cyclops survived. However, this time the situation reversed...

My copy arrived today, so I did a quick test.

    1024x768, high fidelity preset, /nosound:
    SupComMark (composite) : 62.5
    FPS ......................................: calls[ 6870] min[ 3.63] max[ 55.93] avg[ 26.226]

Min fps: 3.63 Avg: 26.226 - ouchie! Makes me want to upgrade lol.

I tried it on some settings I will likely play on all the time. 1600x1200, medium fidelity preset and with sound on:
    SupComMark (composite) : 115.0
    FPS ......................................: calls[ 3919] min[ 1.39] max[ 39.60] avg[ 18.113]

So, I guess it's gonna get jerky for me at times then lol.

Meh - slowest computer yet: 93.8 on normal settings.

It seems to absolutely destroy my hard drive tho - and thats when the performance really drops. Is that from swapping possibly?

Try running the perftest two times in a row - is the second run much faster than the first?

I've not seen SupCom use all that much memory myself, but then I've not really monitored during big battles. Keep task manager open on the performance page and run a perftest to see what kind of mem usage you have.

Heres mine (with patch). I'm running under vista which is probably dragging it down quite a bit.

(1024x768, high fidelity preset, nosound flag)
