Read an article on The inquirer over the weekend talking about the console deathg spiral.

To make the PS3 profitable for sony they need ppl to buy at least 10 games. With the current titles out there doesnt seem to be a killer app to get ppl to pay for the console to start with so getting the initial market will be hard. If the intitial market isnt there then developers will be less likely to bring games out on it which means less ppl buying them.
When you think that nintendo had the Wii profitable from day one and The xbox 360 is supposedly turning a profit of 73 dollars per machine atm Sony have a hugh mountain to climb and instead of trying to get the european market to buy into the PS3 They shaft us with the lack of hardware Emulation. Now imagin if some companies have used the Emotion chip for their new shiny PS3 games thats gonna break them on european consoles.
Sony sell out europe for the sake of 27 dollars per conole(ok it might add up to a lot but for the negative publicity its generated and the fact that the PS3 has already been getting soundly thrashed in other territories surely you`d think sony would want to do it right in europe.
They're just jaloux. Sony > Microsoft![]()
Look, I'm not a console gamer, so the fanboyism rather passes me by; that said, I just about PMSL'ed at this. Hysterical.
I gotta admit, that totally cracked me up. I don't think it's the whole Sony and Microsoft thing that made me laugh though, it's the guys quite hilarious voice! He can't sing to save his life but it actually sounds good in a comical way.
Listen to the line "Said Halo 3 don't worry you, instead you offer Killzone 2, but Killzone 1 sucked before, so what made you think we wanted more?".
If you listen to the 'sucked before' bit he sounds exactly like Kermit the Frog!![]()
Sony just seem to be trying to put me and everyone else off buying a PS3.
Every time you read a bit about it, you come away slightly less sure that you still want one.
Virtua Fighter not online. Virtua Tennis not online. Reduced PS2 backwards compatability. Inflated price point. Etc, etc.
Then all there is on the Wii is Zelda and Monkey Ball, with no new information on a Mario Galaxy release.
And the 360 is great, but I've already had one.
Grrrr.![]()
Mario galaxy is most likely gonna be late summer autum release.
They wanna get metroid and super smash brothers out first I think
Wario is lots of fun though
I am a bit of a nintendo fan boy but have to admit that the games coming out are taking ages atm. Then again the launch of the xbox 360 was pretty slow now look at it![]()

I am pro-PS3 (I can be called pro-Nintendo, but not pro-Sony) because I like what it is - but slowly my eagerness to get one is being eroded, mainly because Sony release a steady stream of bad news at the rate of about 1 every 4 or 5 days.
If the Wii would not be a box to play Zelda one, I'd get one. Zelda is the rule, don't get me wrong, but its a lot of cash to play through one game.
Fact is, there are more games I want to play on the PS3 before its out then there are on the Wii after its been out for this long.
Where are the games? Its almost as if they thought - Zelda is done, so it shouldn't matter if its 6 months before owt else comes out.
I think the big problem with Nintendo is that they have all the games ready but with the GC they released a glut of the big games at once then had a big wait with no games out.
They are holding back a lot of the AAA titles to try and stop the barren spells. just sucks that at the moment we have a time when games are still not there.
The good thing IMO with the wii is that companies like EA, Campcom and the rest all seem to be really latching onto the WIi.
I`m looking forward to tiger woods![]()
I'm warming to the PS3... When I first got it I was a bit underwhelmed, but the more time I spend with it the more I like it.
That said, it sucks badly for media when compared with the Xbox 360 as a media extender.
As a gaming machine, I'm more and more thinking that the PS3 has the potential to be a better gaming platform than than the Xbox 360... IF Sony sort out the online play and IF they get some decent games support...
If, exactly. And that If is going to cost me £500+
If I pay £500, I want Virtua Tennis online. I want full backwards compatibility with PS2 games.
Premium price for premium kit.
At the moment it seems like premium price for kit that is in its infancy, and may get better.
Hardly ideal.
mind you, things can improve quickly. I remember when I first got Burnout Revenge, it was almost impossible to get a race going online. The server would drop you, it would lock up. I remember me, my cousin and a few mates trying from about 6pm to 8:30 trying to get a race going and not getting in a single one.
Spin on a few weeks, and the problem was fixed, and Burnout Revenge was by far the most fun you could have on Xbox Live, and probably overall the best online gaming experiance ev0r.
But that was Xbox Live, and it was lurrvly. Will Sony match up to this? the early signs are that if they do, it will be a slow process.
