Pretty straightforward question.
I'm a seasoned WoW'er, looking for an additional alternative for when I get a spare mo, commeants please, I was looking at Nightfall.
And looking to play solo on this one.

I own it, and play it. Sort of.
That is, i havent actually run the game in a few months now, and truth be told it got a bit boring, for me at least.
Me & my two mates wanted some online multiplaying games, and Guildwars seemed just the job (since it's free).
It's not terrible, and in fact there was lots to like, but I just havent been bothered to load it recently.
Graphics are quite good, i particularly like the ability to run the game in a window of any size whilst still in windows (ie the ability during the game to rescale at the same time as playing it) so that you can monitor any other applications like Skype etc too. That's one thing that others could learn from.

I enjoyed playing it, it was nice having a MMO which you could get NPC parties if you couldn't be arsed grouping with people (and that's meant to be much more improved with nightfall as you can control each NPC in your group)
It was also refreshing that is actually had a storyline as suchbut I also found it quite limited after awhile, just ended up going back to WoW.
But since you can pick the games up cheap now £17.99 and there isnt any online fees I say give it a go![]()

I didn't really enjoy it, to be honest.
It seemed somewhat repetetive to me.
But to honest I don't think i'd enjoy any MMORPGs, i've tried more then just this one.![]()
It's fun. There's a huge amount of content, and the lack of monthy fee means you don't feel under any pressure to get your money's worth - making casual play that much easier. I definitely recommend it for some good hack and slash fun, though it is best in fairly short bursts.
I have played ot for about a year now, and couldnt reccomend it enough. IMO it is the best MMORPG and it free!
it has great visuals and some quite good quests but can get a little tedious, as they are quite similar but the play lasts alot longer than the missions. The community is great and has th best online feel to a game i have played.
I would reccomend getting GUILD WARS PROPHESIES first aka the 1st one in the series as it is the best and is the one that everyone goes on no matter what games they have. ie have nightfall too and bring thier dervishes and paragons to the first world.
its great![]()
Great game. Prophecies and Factions are NOT solo friendly though. I haven't played Nightfall though logic would dictate the improved henchmen help solo'ing. There is a lot of depth to be found in character and team build design and tactics. Being in an active guild can be a large part of this game and I would recommend you try it though it's not totally necessary.
I enjoy it in short bursts.
It is a fun game, but i don't really play for very long at a time, i find it gets too repetitive.
The graphics are impressive enough, there are usually always enough people to join you to do a quest (although it seems to be only monks and warriors that are snapped up).
My friend swears by Nightfall at the moment.
I'd recommend GW highly, there is a nice feature choice, where you can go PvP with a max lvl charachter (no grinding to lvl 20), if you get bored with the storyline.
If you want to play solo, purchase Nightfall, however, I'd go for the Prophecies (1st game) campaign, then Nightfall personally as you can meet some friendly peeps along the way and maybe join a guild too.![]()
it loads pretty damm quick too. the game installs all its files in one big single file
Which is a pain to defragement, but yeah, otherwise it's quite quick![]()
i wished other developers took this kind of approach because it can improve the load times drasticly. some of the worlds in guild wars are massive
Prophecies is excellent start to finish. Loved the Arthurian feel to it. Visuals are also superb as is the sound. Factions however I feel very lacking (2nd campaign). Currently stuck on a mission that I can't get into a group for and keep getting killed with an NPC team (rescuing the gods at a temple, 8 of them). Fell to it isn't as good I think either as Prophecies.
I have heard great things about Nightfall though and will be getting that at some point, thinking on just ditching Factions at the min as it is a bit tedious.
